A "Little Britain" version of this thread

Lou: Are you sure you want to make all your posts in chat lingo?

Andy: Yeah.

Lou: But you told me you don't like chat lingo.

Andy: That one, yeah.

Lou: You said you thought chat lingo made people who otherwise may have been intelligent seem extremely dim witted and lacked the eloquence of proper english type. So are you sure you want me to post your reply in chat lingo? Once I hit the post button, there's no going back.

Andy: Yeah, I want that one.

Lou: Alright, I'll post for you in chat lingo. (hits post button) There, done.

Andy: I DON'T LIKE IT. I HATE CHAT LINGO.

Lou bashes his head against a wall. THE END.

MATT

Personally, I fucking hate it. It grates my nerves. Here in the UK it's also called 'text speak' (or even 'txt spk'). Your example is the worst I've seen todate.

It rips apart English and it makes it very difficult for the vast majority of readers and therefore is not a language at all but some bastard version of communication used by morons. Let's not kid around, chat 'lingo' is not English and is not a form of English.

As for the people using it being thick/stupid, yes that is my definite impression. I would qualify that however with the fact that they are young teens too and therefore are less sensitive to other people.

To bring your language here (an adult forum) shows a lot of ignorance with regards to the fact you might be causing offence.

When English was invented by the Queen of England (around 50 years before she sold Canada to the Québécois and gave that money to a a man called George from a town near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, to set up the USA) I'm sure she had no idea how her beloved rhyme would be destroyed.

Anyway, did you fix the problem with your DVDs?

Exactly my thoughts.
