Escape from Alcatraz is one of my favourite films but I've held off picking up the current release in anticipation of a special edition at some stage down the line. Has anybody heard anything about a possible release?

I too would like to see it re-released, namely anamorphically.

We're speaking about Paramount Studios here! We all know how long it took for them to finally re-release Titanic with an anamorphic transfer. Hopefully, it will not be another century for Paramount to re-release a Special Edition for Escape From Alcatraz, and other non-anamorphic titles as well.

Knowing Paramount, I can see it now..."Escape from Alcatraz: The Escape From Prison Edition!"
