I'd prefer the "Jack Nasty", "Jack Fuckin' Twist!", or "I ain't queer." editions, personally.

I'd give them a , but the sad truth is if this was a DVD that was just sitting on shelves, rather than selling like hotcakes, they probably would have pulled it.

They're not making a moral stand, they're just maximizing their profits.

My local Wal-Mart had the Brokeback DVDs behind the counter and not on display. That was just weird.

They are treating BBM like it is softcore porn or what not. Give me a break already Wal-Mart. My local Wal-Mart had a huge display for Brokeback Mountain, I guess choices like that are made by whoever is in charge at each individual location.

I picked the non-silver widescreen at Tower. I had to look through a bunch of full screen copies to find it.

I wouldn't necessarily say that.

It's very possible some young kids may come in and make fun of it and start trashing them. I thought of that already. People are crazy out there. I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that.

Sometimes wal-mart's around here just keep the new releases behind the register so the clerks don't have to keep going to the locked case to get them out as they sell so many in the first week. Of course, that might just be the clerks being lazy rather than store policy.

A sad, but all-to-accurate, viewpoint of the current social climate in which we live. However, one can hope that "Brokeback Mountain" and other similarly themed movies may make people stop and think before condemning others.

Well racism was resolved some time ago to where we can all interact in a social atmosphere, but you look all around you and racism is still very much around today. Brokeback Mountain is certainly a step in the right direction but this film clearly has an accepting audience which applauds it for taking that step. It also has the nay-sayers and haters that will never accept such an idea. It may become more 'acceptable' over time but there's always going to be those who have been judged on a bias from some closed minded people, no matter how much something may become acceptable in a social climate. It's sad, yet true.

It was also quite refreshing to see such a thing tackled on HBO's Six Feet Under as well. That's another topic though

Unfotunately, the people condemning probably wouldn't be caught dead watching the movie. As I said in the movie forum, it's preaching to the choir.

But all of this is discussion for that thread, not the DVD one.

Interesting, the Walmart by my house has a big poster as your going through the door, and a nice sized display in the DVD section (just opposite a Narnia display as a matter of fact). This is in Utah, where one theater received national attention after pulling the movie.

The times they are-a-changing.

And those very same individuals who are consistantly verbally condemning this movie, you'll be very surprised on what their secret sexual perversions, and, gratifications which they'll frequently succumb to indulge in behind close doors, secluded away from their spouses, or significant others. So all of these so-called, alleged male heterosexuals are strictly not what they publicly appears to be.....Due to my past personal experiences of various associations with men, this is factual!

I am not discussing anything, I was just making a general comment, concerning the prejudicial controversy against the movie: Brokeback Mountain. This is only a matter of hypocrisy, when certain people are being severely hypocritcal, and judgmental towards a movie that contains an controversal gay theme, are obviously throwing stones at a glass house, when they surreptitiously are involved in the exact same situations. And are reluctant to practice what they preach. This is the reason for my statement!

OK and as I said...this isn't the place for this discussion.

Oh and btw...you can't lump everyone who doesn't want to see the movie into one group because it makes you feel better.

Brokeback is Number 3 on the Billboard DVD sales chart this week! Positions 1, 2 and 4 are filled with variations on Narnia. I'm pleased this disc is doing so well at retail. I've purchased my copy and I'm eagerly awaiting a special edition at some point in the future!
