I'm watching That Yellow Bastard right now, I've watched the first two stories already. There really isn't a lot added, a few neat scenes, like Miho and Manute and Marv with his mom.
The odd thing is that there are still a few bits from the comic that aren't in it. Marv doesn't tell his mom that he met a girl. The scene where Marv slams repeatedly into the door on the farm isn't in it (and I could have sworn I saw green screen footage of it).

I got this yesterday and just went through some of it today.
Yup, it's only about 7 minutes longer.
(all the times below do NOT include credits)
The theaterical cut is about 117 minutes.
The "uncut" version is split up into 4 separate parts, here's how they break down:
- Customer is Alway Right: 0:04:15
- Hard Goodbye: 0:36:30
- Big Fat Kill: 0:40:30
- Yellow Bastard: 0:42:30
So, totalled, that's about 124 minutes before credits (each segment has it's own credits).
124
-117
7 more minutes...
Disappointed? Sure.
But, to me, the commentaries with Miller and Tarantino, alone, more than make up for that.

I don't have a problem with this because of the extras, but I can't believe the marketing on this. They should just say "director's cut" and not mislead, which, this is everything but blatant misrepresentation.
Still, I skipped the first disc, so I can't complain too much.

Did they take anything out of the theatrical cut?
BTW, I'll be kind of glad when the banner ad for this goes out of rotation. I had my volume set high as I was watching a DVD, and that thunder was loud!

Also, your 7-minute estimate sounds the most accurate of any I've read so far. I knew it had to be more than four, but I also knew that it certainly wasn't twenty. Thanks for the exact count.

The only way to watch them all together is to watch the theatrical verision (which some people don't seem to know is included in this set, and is the version that carries the commentaries).

No kidding? Well then, I'm glad I saw this in the theater. I thought that was going to be an option on this release (each separate segment, the theatrical film, or the full uncut and re-edited film).

yes, but isn't this version almost twice the amount of money than the standard version out now? (or at least $10 more, right?) I really don't care for the comic book - are the supplements really worth the additional money?

i just can't believe they would put this out and not have it be the 20+ extra minutes that they say. RR doesn't seem like that dishonest of a guy and i will wait till i have my copy to decide for sure.

Of course, there was so much extra footage already that people really didn't seem to bitch about that too much.

Hmm now I'm going to have to decide on which version to get. Is the AV on the new disc the same?

Just "me-too'ing" alot of what's been said here. I've got no problem with a "director's cut" that's only 4 minutes longer (or 4 minutes shorter, for that matter), but advertising this disc as containing an additional 23 minutes makes me feel like the studio/Rodriguez/everyone involved considers me and you and the rest of the film's fans to be idiots, and certainly aren't adverse to misrepresenting the contents of the disc to goad us into purchase it.
I expect this crap when it comes to movies I wouldn't poke with a long stick, you know, "unrated" versions of shitty films marketed so as to roil the teenage hormone stew. I like this movie. I don't want to feel like part of the moron demographic when I purchase it.
