darmok 12-01-05 03:37 PM

ignition 12-01-05 03:41 PM

Fuck that, I'm just gonna order 20 copies of the GINGERDEAD MAN with Busey.

chemosh6969 12-01-05 03:45 PM

They have the rights back so now they can sell all the ones they couldn't. I already got mine off ebay so I don't need this.

I just hope they don't release a better version soon.

PotVsKtl 12-01-05 03:55 PM

Holy crap Gingerdead Man looks awesome.

Cameron 12-01-05 05:59 PM

anybody have specs on these?

BuddyRevell 12-01-05 06:09 PM

Damn! I wasn't gonna but checked what they were going for on ebay and holy hell. Some are at 300. I love these movies anyways so hopefully my order goes through.

I rented Ginger Dead man last week. It's pretty bad, but it does have a "few" funny parts that save it from being a complete waste of time.

But I would like to see Jack Frost VS Ginger Dead man. That would be sweet.

Thanks OP.

Cameron 12-01-05 06:20 PM

yah, but whose to say a bigger better box isn't coming...or that they didn't have hordes of left over boxes just laying around.

Wasn't there supposed to be a full moon chat last week? What was the verdict of all the ownership of the first films? Paramount had them, and another person had the charachters....

gutwrencher 12-01-05 06:48 PM

Damn....does this mean that the people who offered me over $300 for my set won't want MINE any longer?

Good...now maybe people, including a few DVDTalk members, will stop emailing me every month to see if I changed my mind.-rolleyes-

drainout 12-01-05 08:36 PM

Grabbed mine, I've been thinking about getting this used some how for quite a while.

Thanks for pointing it out.

turborobb 12-02-05 02:44 AM

Full Moon used to be so awesome in the early to mid 90's... I remember the excitement whenever my local video store would get a new Full Moon video in, I loved the "VideoZone" which would have previews of the up-coming movies.

I've got a big collection of Full Moon videos off ebay and from old video stores selling off their old rentals. Most of the good ones have never been released on DVD yet.

what is everyones favorite Full Moon movie?

joltman 12-02-05 07:33 AM

Is this the best we're going to get? Aren't there some kind of rights problems that prevent this from being released again?

teamwinfan 12-02-05 11:42 AM

I just ordered two, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Bill Geiger 12-02-05 04:13 PM

Very nice....these are Region 0 by the way, not Region 1.

from what I understand there are some rights issues between Paramount and Full Moon over most of those films... so any Full Moon that was put out by Paramount is held up. that's why we have yet to see Trancers 2-5, Subspecies 1-3, Dollman, Demonic Toys, Pit and the Pendulum, Mandroid, Arcade, Dark Angel and many other Full Moon titles on DVD yet.

saw this thread when it first posted, where did you find them on that page at?

chemosh6969 12-02-05 10:14 PM

Paramount doesn't have the rights anymore. That is why they are now selling all the ones that they couldn't sell before.

I wouldn't be shocked if they used the money selling these to come out with a better box set.

JOE29 12-02-05 10:25 PM

I've been waiting forever for the Subspecies series, that's my favorite Full Moon movie set. I do have Subspecies 4 though, but the others I can't get.

Gizmo 12-02-05 11:47 PM

Ordered one...at the very least I can get double my money for it!

J-Flow 12-03-05 12:45 AM

Thanks for posting this. I've been wanting this for some time. Early 90s Full Moon was great. PM has always been a favorite. My box of VHS that I have held onto is about 75% Full Moon stuff that will never see the light of day.

Cameron 12-03-05 01:22 AM

i fear that they have boxes upon boxes of these and several people hoping to make a buck will be left holding the bag. Good luck to you all....

which ones are these? They still haven't released the Subspecies or Trancers movies.

Living Dead 12-03-05 04:40 AM

So are these anamorphic? Decent transfers at all? There's no info about the set at all on the website.

I'm pretty sure that they are all full frame.

xfilekr 12-03-05 09:32 AM

They are all fullframe, and either taken from laserdiscs or vhs transfers I think.

I think it was sometime this year they got the rights back.

They do have at least the first and last Trancers movie on DVD as well as some of the Subspecies.

For the ones they didn't have rights to, if you go to their page and look at the right side, you can find an import page where they got around the rights issue by making the DVDs region 0 so people in the US could get them. The page used to work but now doesn't seem to.

The DVDs are all full screen and there is absolutely nothing special about them and that is why I'm hoping they will put out another box set with the movies that came out after the set did with a lot better features.

The people thinking they will make any money on ebay don't seem to realize that everyone and their mother is going to be flooding the market with these so you probably won't be making double your money anytime soon.

Seantn 12-03-05 11:39 AM

Yeah, I remember reading that it was ported directly from the VHS, so what's the point?

Well, they state they found only 70-80, so IF its true, I would only assume 50 or so would go on ebay, while the rest would goto the fans. Eeven if, Ive seen brand new ones go for $400 or so, so a drop wouldn't be all that bad.

Anyone that ordered have theirs ship? What about an e-mail confirmation?

dvdman47 12-03-05 01:48 PM

I sent an e-mail to their customer service address and they said that they expect them to go out in about 2 weeks.

By the way....Thanks to the OP!!

critterdvd 12-03-05 01:58 PM

While I would love to own these movies, I just cant justify the $100 right now (eventhough its normally 4 times that price).

ignition 12-03-05 02:07 PM

I want these bad, but with the poorness of their quality, I'll just hold off for the very unlikely re-release in widescreen (where applicable) and with any sort of extras or anything.

xfilekr 12-03-05 02:16 PM

These movies will probably never be released in widescreen, because for the most part they were all direct to video as far as I know (except maybe the first one?) and shot full frame. Also, they do have extras- the original behind the scenes 'videozones that were on the original vhs releases. I'd love some sort of retrospective done by Band that would cover all of them.

When the box set was released a review site did a very indepth review, many pages long, on each movie, the PQ and the extras- the whole nine yards, one of the most in-depth reviews I ever read. I think it may have been dvdreview? I'll try to find it.

Actually it says

found at least 70
That means that it could be as much as all the ones that were recalled or it might actually be a low number.

ignition 12-03-05 02:59 PM

Hmm... I thought maybe the first 2 or so were released theatrically (of course, I'm just talking out of my ass). Well, in any case, $100 is too much with what's being released in the next few weeks anyhow.

Living Dead 12-03-05 03:03 PM

I agree, $100 for 7 schlocky horror movies seems a little stiff. I've seen most of these movies and like them a lot, but let's admit it...these are the typesof movies you'd generally find in the dump bin at Wal-Mart. I've looked at them on ebay in the past, but even this lower price seems like too much. If only the set was around $50 r so, I'd have pissed myself and bought one immediately.

I was surprised at how many Full Moon movies I've seen after visiting their site. I watched a ton of their movies in the early 90's but didn't realize it was one specific company. The Subspecies series was great!

You can get the first 2 I believe in Mexico. They are region 1 and 4 so.... but the downside is that shipping is a bitch to the US from Mexico. The discs only run about 4 bucks!
