Bill Geiger 12-26-05 12:56 AM

According to Charles Band's web blog, they still have these in stock until the 31st of December. After that, they will be taking this off of the website.

deadpool24 12-26-05 03:06 PM

can someone do a review on this set?

Gizmo 12-26-05 06:19 PM

Man, those guys are mother fuckers. They sure 'found' 70 of them my ass.

They did say at least 70.

I figured they found all the ones that were recalled which would be at least 70 but in reality much, much higher.

Gizmo 12-26-05 08:18 PM

They said 70. They then sold out. They then claim they had some cancelations (Doubtful since everything is paid for by Paypal, and even if, it wouldn't be more then a handful due to the high price this normally fetches). Now they have them till the end of the year. They really like fucking around with people. Oh well, atleast I got one. Sucks they felt the need to charge $110 for VHS Quality transfers.

That could be every copy they weren't allowed to sell which would be a lot higher than 70.

drainout 12-28-05 12:23 AM

Got mine today, glad to have them, not great quality, but oh well.

Cameron 12-08-06 04:23 PM

It's the 3rd or 4th time I've seen them put it up after they take it down for awhile.

jmj713 12-08-06 09:08 PM

I'd love a box with all the PM movies remastered and with extras.

nin74 12-08-06 09:27 PM

Anyone can post some screenshot from some of the movies?

It looks like they "find" some of these every year at Christmas time. I have most of then on LD, and I'm happy with those.

I made them myself when I made xvid files of my dvds and these are from the first Puppet Master.

lethalkrs 12-09-06 06:27 PM

I got one of these from Charles Band at his booth at the a convention last year. Got it autographed as well. He had to have a picture of him handing the boxes to each person who bought one for some reason.

Cameron 12-09-06 09:03 PM

that is a bit odd, that he would require a photo...

nin74 12-10-06 07:08 PM

Are the videozone stuff in the box also?

I re-watch the first movie tonight. It's a great movie I think. Not the best of them but really nice. I think the LD was clearly better so I think I will not get the DVD box.

Nice that they included them at least. I wonder why they didn't use the same master as the LDs? It looks like another master for the LD's:

These REALLY need remasters. Will Full Moon ever release a 9-film set with every movies actually remastered?

I doubt they will anytime soon since they seem to be trying to put out all the stuff they couldn't before and in crappy transfers.

Cameron 12-10-06 11:52 PM

i would assume once they exhaust all the left over dvds, and if the demand is there

Wick 12-11-06 12:01 AM

I saw the original release once at a local used CD/DVD store. I inquired into whether or not I could purchase it, and the clerk told me that somebody had it reserved. I'm kind of glad that I didn't buy it, because it didn't seem to be in that great of condition. Also, I've only seen Puppet Master 4, which was pretty good.

xage 01-08-08 10:08 AM

It feels so good after a long wait to get this in an economical cost...

The box doesn't even have all the movies in the series.

there were 73 "Puppet Master" films? how is that possible?

Puppet Master Legacy and Puppet Master VS Demonic Toys were the ones not included...

And they were not the only (among horror boxsets) incomplete in boxset series.

1. The Friday The 13th series did not came with Jason Goes To Hell, Jason X and Freddy Vs Jason

2. The Nightmare in Elm Street Boxset did not came with Freddy VS Jason

3. Child's Play Boxset did not even came with Child's Play 1

4. Evil Dead Books Of the Dead Boxset did not came with Army Of Darkness

Overall.. You should know that there is what you called "License" and that is the reason why some boxsets are not that complete.

Um. Not really. It's more due to which company owns the distribution rights -- and in terms of some films, the rights to the character or the trademark.

For example, Paramount owns the distribution rights to the first eight Friday the 13th films. Whereas New Line does own the copyrights to the Jason character as Paramount sold it to them, they own the rights to the last two films plus Freddy vs. Jason.

Same thing applies to Universal. MGM/20th Century Fox own the distribution rights to Child's Play, but Universal owns the rights to Chucky plus the distribution to all the sequels.

Full Moon only owns the first seven films of Puppet Master as those are the ones they specifically produced (which is kinda funny considering The Legacy consists of archival footage of the entire series). The other two films are owned by different companies, thus why they're not apart of the boxset.

And is Full Moon even in business anymore? I wouldn't be shocked if we see a DVD release down the road from a different company. Let it be Anchor Bay, Blue Underground, Unearthed Films, Dark Sky Pictures -- anybody to be honest. Shit. I'm sure the same could be said about Troma with the way that company's headed.

I should have change it to License & Distribution.

However, the said rights are also regional.

Anyways... the said Boxset is still the best Puppet Master series out there! and its Region code free!

Yes but that set predates Freddy VS Jason, I remember that was the first big box set I got on dvd 74 dollar range back when I got my first dvd player

Nobody has pointed out that this set was released in 2000 and the last 2 movies were released in 2004.

The poster ahead of me is correct...the last 2 movies were done AFTER the box set was released.

The box set was distributed by Koch and was pulled when Paramont put the kabash on the thing since they still controlled the rights in the US. I also am a bit suspicious about the seemingly endless supply of sets "uncovered" by FULL MOON in the past few years. The 70-ish qty of sets seems more like 700 or more. They were/are selling them even now on their website for $50 (a 50% off sale still running as of yesterday) a few years later. Those Koch sets were going upwards of $300 on eBay not long ago...

Charlie Band has been struggling to keep FULL MOON together for years now and he seems to be climbing out of the hole at last. God bless him for hanging in there and if he's making a few bucks on semi bogus "lost" Puppet master DVD set, well good for him. He deserves it more than the eBay speculators thats for sure.

Interesting. Is the free shipping still being offered?

They only said at first it was a limited supply which is true. 50,000 or even one million would be a limited supply.

I figured they had a warehouse full of the ones they couldn't sell anymore and they "discovered" it when they got the rights back.

FYI: They are going to do a 50% off sale on Valentine's Day. This includes everything except for and brand new box sets(at least that's what they did last year). This includes posters, clothing, movies, anything.

But DID they ever get the rights back? Every DVD release from this shady company (and taking into account Band's shady history as well) seems to have a bogus-type sales pitch. "We found some old sealed copies in our warehouse", "it's an Australian import DVD set and it's in NTSC-region 1 - so we can sell it", etc. Band probably had a clause with Paramount that he retained ownership of already produced copies to do with what he wants. Suddenly, all these already-produced copies wasting away in these ephemeral warehouses all across Hollywood suddenly appear, and "import versions" never released anywhere are amazingly imported to the US for sale. Ya, this company is definitely playing by the rules. Paramount probably just doesn't give a s*** anymore and lets Band do what he wants as the value of these films aren't really worth it to such a major studio.

Lets hope they include box sets this year.

I missed out on the $50 Puppet Master Box because I decided to buy the Buffy: Chosen Collection this past X-Mas.

I still need to get this set, crappy transfers or not. Xage, I'm jealous.

Last year the only two they didn't do was one set that was a pre-order and one that came out right before the sale.

I bought a couple shirts, posters, 7(?) statues, and tons of dvds.

Carcosa 01-10-08 06:08 PM

Ooops...the 50% sale ended as of 12-31...sorry 'bout that.
