PVC pipe DVD racks?

I built this almost 2 years ago using the specs from the link provided in this post. I believe I had to make a few minor adjustments, because the specs didn't seem quite accurate...
I'm not sure if this design is actually very trustworthy. Like I said, I built it pretty much to spec and you can see in the photo below it looks the same as his build. HOWEVER, It does not want to stand up by itself (I think it's leaning against my wall now) and there is some bowing in the horizontal pvc pipes (along with the vertical end pipes).
I think it overall only took me about $60 and 5 hours to put together. I think it'd really be worth it if you could get it to be stable and freestanding..
