If I like the '53 movie and the TV series, will I like this movie? Cruise's nutty behavior turned me off seeing it. I've been thinking of renting it.

Hard to say Altimus. I've never seen the original and I couldn't bring myself to sit through an episode of the tv series...looked much better thru my 8yr old eyes I guess. I thought the movie was great - but I'm looking more at the visual style and imagery, which is some of the most unique and haunting I've seen in recent yrs. Rent if you're unsure. Of course, the sale prices will be gone next wk...

The slipcase for the LE DVD has got to be the tightest and toughest to put back on in my collection. You'd think they could give a little breathing room... The book from BB is a huge dissapointment - I was expecting one of those larger 'making of' books.

I thought the BB book was great. I loved flipping through the screenplay after watching the film. Koepp's notes were very insiteful as well.

The movie was good. Not great but good. Surprisingly, a very faithful adaptation of the novel....for better or worse. The A/V is FANTASTIC. My living room was rumbling each time a Martian siren went off.

I got that metal case from Future Shop, it just says "War of the Worlds" on the front and its silver, but i put my the digipack inside that, instead of the slipcase so it doesn't get all worn. My slip case is on my shelf so it won't be harmed .

$31.99 CDN is a tad too expensive for me... I'll wait for a sale or something.

Yeah, CA$31.99 is just too much right now. Too bad it's limited and later on my only option will be the nearly barebones regular edition. I wonder if I will even bother buying that one.

Got the BB book, and am not a Rewards member!!

First of all, I'm kind of let down about the BB near me not using the advertised discount prices- the LE was 28.99, not 24.99 like advertised (the single disc was also 19.99 instead of 14.99), and I was checking on friday and saturday when their regular first-week discount should have still been in effect.

Anyway, I wanted the script enough to be willing to join Rewards when I went to the cashier. But, he said nothing, I said nothing, and I just bought the LE and carried the book right out. He even rung the book up for 0.00 and didn't ask me anything about whether I was a Rewards member.

It's worth a try.

the ads from last week were only good 'till wed, not the entire week because it was black friday.

like that every year.

The books scan at 0.00 whether you're a reward zone member or not.

Are you sure? My BB had those prices on the DVDs (28.99 for LE and 19.99 for the single), but it rang up as 24.99 when I purchased it. BB usually puts the non-sale price on the DVDs, so they don't have to re-sticker them after the sale is over.

Yep, they do the same thing at the Best Buys I go to.

Hey, anyone know how long that HBO featurette is on the Wal-Mart bonus disc? Anything worthwhile?

Positive. I even had an employee to do a price check. They were selling it for 28.99, no discounts. I was pretty surprised.

Picked mine up at BB with the book and it rang up at $24.99, but had the $28.99 sticker on it.

15 minutes, with another 7-and-a-half devoted to the Pre-Visualization section. Anything worthwhile? That depends on the viewer.
