One season of a drama, one season of a comedy. I have a dedicated 5-disc changer just for TV shows. Right now I'm on 24: Season 3 and What's Happening! Season 2.

From Beginning to End.

Currently watching Alias: Season 4 which I shloud be done with sometime this week.

After that, I've lined up Profit: The Complete Series and a couple smaller films.

I like the complete continuity that watching a season set can provide.

Whole seasons in order. Usually 2-3 episodes in one sitting.

Dramas I watch in order. Comedies I'll watch an episode whenever and skip around, since they arent usually related to one another anyway.

I recently bought "Bewitched: Season 1" on DVD, and there were a couple of episodes that didn't feature my three favourite characters (Endora: Agnes Moorehead, Aunt Clara: Marion Lorne, Mrs Kravitz: Alice Pearce) that I never watched.

I watch in order, even if it's something like the Simpsons. I don't try to 'rush' through a series, especially the expensive ones--if I watch a 40 dollar series in three days, i don't feel like I got my money's worth. I'll watch two-four different series at a time and alternate between them depending what mood I'm in.
I watch them the order they're on the disks, which is usually the order they're 'supposed' to be watched in; if there's something wacky about the order, I'll watch them the 'right' way.
A half hour show, I'll watch 2-3 at once, if it's an hour show, 1-2.
One exception: I was working my way through the Complete Flying Circus, then forgot where I was, so when I started back, I started with the last disk.

Whole seasons, in writer's-intended order, usually 2-3 eps in a sitting. I made it through Kolchak in two weeks and Profit in one, am on second viewing of Trek TOS S1, fourth of Firefly, finishing S3 of Red Dwarf, and am starting American Gothic, Miami Vice S1 and Magnum S1 now. Looking to pickup all the new Galacticas, SG-1s, WOTW S1, SAAB, and the Huge Buffy Set (for the wife, I find the buffyverse annoying) by Christmas.

I tend to stick with a certain show at a time (regardless of if it's something I've seen or not) and watch it through in order. This is really easy on some shows (BSG for example where I need to know what comes next or Farscape), but some shows make this impossible. I remember watching and liking Xena back in the day, but I can only take a little at a time.

As much as I can handle in one sitting. Depending on the show, it may only be 2 episodes or 8.

When I buy a set, I'll usually start at the beginning and watch it all the way through. This is mainly because of the few times I've done it differently ... for instance, I knew 'Simpsons' so well that I would watch them randomly, but then, at a certain point, I started to forget which ones I'd watched. (This was worse with commentaries, where I didn't want to watch them more than once but wanted to see them all once... I still haven't.)

I did just buy 'South Park' and watch them out of order, but I would only watch one disc at a time ... so I watched all the ones on disc one, then disc three, then disc two, but didn't concern myself with order, since I'd already seen them in order, and they didn't do a lot of building off of each other. (Definitely some, but nothing significant.)

Once I've seen a show, though, I'll often just pop in a random episode; I don't need to re-start from the beginning again.

Almost every show I own has an overall arc whereby you do get more by watching them in order ... 'Simpsons' and 'South Park' and 'Futurama' are the only exceptions I can think of.

Usually, the first time I watch after I have bought the DVDs I watch the episodes in order for each season. After that, it depends on the type of series. If it's something like Alias where each ep depends on the previous ones, I'll tend to watch them in order. If they're more stand-alone, I'll watch them randomly depending on what I'm in the mood to watch. If I'm watching random eps, I'll often just watch all the eps on a disc before I put that disc away again for a while.

For something like The Simpsons in which I've already seen the full seasons, I just skip to my favorite episodes or watch the entire season through w/commentary. For something like 24 or Sopranos, I watch the entire season all the way through.

Right now (thanks to all the ridiculously low prices lately) I have 13 series on the shelf I'm watching. I only view one episode at a time, and usually no show gets watched more than once a week. They last a loooooong time! DVD's have replaced all TV viewing for me except sports and news. It is GREAT to watch a TV show without all those crappy promos popping up and the network bugs constantly on screen. Anything that looks remotely interesting (like "Lost"), I'll just wait for the DVD release to watch it.

I like to wait until an entire series is released, then start with the last episode and watch all the way back to the first episode. It makes every show like "Memento."

i usually start a season when i'm working on a project... projects are pretty long so if there's more than one season... i'll get thru a couple of the seasons. It's all usually in order.

i did this for the Batman Anthology on the last project...

Depends on the series. Shows of the dramatic persusasion usually grab my attention for the longest time, if for no other reason than they typically feature continuous storylines that demand your immedate attention.

With most comedy shows, I can get through them at a normal pace. An episode or two a day or every other day. Whatever. No real system in place. If it's a series I love (i.e. Aqua Teen Hunger Force or CYE), I can get through the set fairly quickly.

Whole seasons in order. Generally, I try to wait until the whole series is released and then blow through the whole thing.

I watch them in order this way I can follow the storyline. If I've already seen every episode, such is the case with Smallville, then we skip around. My son is a huge fan so this is pretty much always on.
