Madagascar Bonus Disc at Walmart

I received a Walmart sales paper in the mail and they're advertising Madagascar coming Nov 15 with a Bonus Disc. It's the animated short of The Penguins in "A Christmas Caper" that was shown in Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit movie.

No price listed, but I would say that the sale price is $19.99.

This is another case of a WalMart exlusive costing extra (like the SW one next week). Looking on walmart.com, it shows the normal dvd version at $15.87, and the 2-disc at $25.49. I'm sure the prices will be different in-store, but there's no way I'm gonna pay $5-10 more on a fluff disc that should be free to begin with. All the other stores that have bonus dvds usually offer them free to get you into the store, why can't the Waltons?

Walmart's bonus discs always cost extra. It sucks, but the discs are usually worth it if you like the movie.

It's not a bonus disc if you have to pay for it.

Don't know what other features (if any) that's on it, but for $4 more I'll buy it to get the Penguins short.

I was tempted to get the Japanese 2-disc release to get this short, but now I guess I'll have to get it from Wally World.

How long is the short & is it any good?

I loved the penguins in the movie but I don't know if I really want to pay some extra bucks at Wally World for it.

Inside the latest "Coscto Connection" magazine you'll find an ad for the DVD that says Costco's copies will also come with the Penguin short.

Sweet...does it give Costco's price in the ad?

No price.

Ad is on page 40. Also says it comes with a coupon for $3 off Speilberg's War or the Worlds. No picture or mention of it's the 1 or 2 disc verison. Most likely a coupon on the back of the long box.

Now they're showing on TV that the penguins short will not be a bonus disc, but will be included on the Madagascar dvd.

DVD Answers has revised artwork that shows this is now included. Poor Walmart.

At least now I'll save $5 on this release.

So has it been confirmed that the bonus short is included on all the dvds? I was going to get this at DDD for the 20% off sale but their cover art doesn't reflect it & I just wanted to be sure.

Wal-mart has states the "exclusive" Whacked out Holiday disc is on their website for $25.49. Even if it is an exclusive I wouldn't pay 10 bucks more for that.

Yes, when I put them out at Circuit City last night there were signs and stuff that said "2 Movies on 1 Disc!" and there is a red banner across the top that says about the penguin short being included.

So is Walmart actually going to continue offering this "deal"? People are going to be awfully upset buying a bonus disc that contains material found on the other.

Has anyone actually picked the WalMart disc up? Was curious if there was anything else on there besides the Pengiuns short.

I got the bonus disc edition. (had a hell of a time finding one that was packaged with a Widescreen copy)

Basically, "the Christmas Caper" has been moved OFF of the main disc and on to the bonus disc. Also included are the penguins doing 4 christmas songs, "We wish you a merry penguin" "Jingel Bells" "Deck the Halls" and "The 12 Days of Christmas"

also included:

- Penguin Commentary - The Penguins' first-flipper account of their mission
- AND MORE!
As a side note, the packs with the bonus DVD were priced the same as the non-bonus ones at my WalMart. I got it for $21 Canadian

Are these songs CG animated?

I have no idea. It's a christmas gift for my daughter, so I have not opened it. I just transcribed exactly what is written on the back.
