Trailer Park Boys - why not in the US?

Had a customer asking me if I could get Trailer Park Boys for him. I see that they're out on DVD, but not for order in the United States. Any reason why?

Us Canadians are greedy with our releases. Or could be the fact that it hasnt developed a wide enough following to warrant a release in the US.

Nah, there's all sorts of BBC shows that get released here, and many of them do not have a huge following either.

Seasons One through Three are available via Amazon. For some odd reason Season Four isn't on sale at Amazon yet, but you can get it on eBay at a good price.

or you could just order it from a Canadian etailer, which is the easiest way to get it.

They're not available directly from Amazon, at least not the United States website. Anything there is from a 3rd party.

Yeah, but I'm trying to get them for a customer at my store, and I don't have any Canadian dealers to go through :-)

Sigh, and ONCE AGAIN, that is NOT from Amazon directly. That is from their marketplace, where you buy from other Amazon members.

You can find the first set for $4.99/used and $9.99/new at certain stores here in the US. I posted the following thread in the bargains folder months ago, but no one seemed to care:

OK guys, I think everyone has lost sight of why I asked the question. I own a store that sells DVD's. A customer wanted me to see if I could get them for him.

The customer can go on Ebay or Amazon or whatever to get them if he wanted, he was just wondering if I could order them and get them cheaper. I found that I couldn't, so I was curious as to why they're not available here in the states.

Thanks for the link, Brent, but I did a search and they didn't have any more available.

As they are not available for sale in the USA, your distributor won't have them for sale - so you can't get them. So you or your customer has to buy them from a Canadian retailer/etailer or find someone in the USA who can get them for you.

My guess as to why Trailer Park Boys isn't available is simply because no one has picked them up for sale there. I am surprised that no one has. Maybe Alliance Atlantis hasn't made the rights available or doesn't want to?

They may be waiting to see if the movie gets U.S. distribution.

I'm assuming that potential US distributors don't feel that there is enough of a market or interest in the series to make it worth their while to purchase US rights (yet). Just curious, is the series shown on a US cable channel?

I've been told that it airs on BBC America, but that's on digital cable in my area, and I won't pay the outrageous price that Comcast wants for it.
