This makes my day. My favorite series of all time. I thought they'd never get to it.

Dammit! I thought my computer goes broke when the thread didn't self-destruct after I waited for five minutes. I kicked it many times already and it didn't make a move.

Agreed, I have the AC3 Laserdisc and since the DVD is mediocre, I just watch the LD with modest picture and great sound.

Ah, been awhile since this thread was updated. We posted the date for season 1 a few weeks ago, and that's just been confirmed by the studio:

Enjoy!

I'd be interested to know how well these hold up as I never seen them. I suppose its worth blind buy I loved movies and it can be any more far fetched then some of scenes of last movie.

She doesn't show up until the 5th or 6th season. After Barbara Bain left there was a revolving door of actresses including Linda Day George, Barbara Anderson and Lee Meriweather along with many one shots. Sam Elliot was part of the cast one season. I adore this show. Over the years I've managed to acquire about 120 eps. on tape and they never grow old. Very well written and still holds up well. I'm suprised a show with such complex plots that require undivided attention by the viewer was such a big hit for seven years. If you didn't like the first movie because it was too complex, beware. Although the mission is explained at the outset the viewer is not let on as to what the MI Force is doing. You see them doing stuff but don't really know why until the end when everything comes together in a big payoff, similiar to THE STING.

Don't forget that Leonard Nimoy was also a cast member. The only thing that doesn't hold up well is the repeat performances of guest stars playing various bad guy roles.

Can you tell me about "THE STING", is the movie or a tv series. I like movies or shows like this. I can't wait to get MISSION on dvd. I've been waiting for so long. Can you elaborate on THE STING.

I'm refering to the movie The Sting . Practically every episode begins with Mr. Briggs(1st season) or Mr. Phelps receiving a briefing on the mission. Sometimes the tape will be hidden in a pay phone with an out of order sign, or on a vinyl record in a rare record store(Code sign: "Do you have a copy of Bethoven's 5th by New York Philharmonic, 1956 pressing", etc.). There is usually an envelope that has photographs of the bad guys. Next we see Briggs/Phelps in his apartment chosing the team for this mission by going through photographs of MI Force members. Often an outsider with an expertise specific to the mission is brought in(guest star). Cut to the assembled team in Briggs/Phelps apartment going over specific parts of a plan they have already discussed, the viewer does not know what the plan is or what role each member will be playing, or what a specific gadget will be used for until the mission unfolds during the show. Most missions involve some sort of sting, tricking the bad guy(s) into doing something that leads to their downfall.
Spoiler:
One of the later seasons has an episode called "The Photographer". A famous magazine photographer is actually an enemy spy. Something to do with his parents having been accused of spying and executed by the U.S. Holds a grudge. He has a underground nuclear bomb shelter on his property. Can't remember all the specifics but they trick the photographer into thinking a nuclear exchange has taken place. First they block regular radio/tv broadcasts to his house and send fake newscasts that only he can receive that nuclear war has taken place. Naturally he heads for the bunker. Prior to this they went into the bunker and rigged the radiation gauges, etc. to give readings consistent with a nuclear blast. Once he's in the bunker they do something to make the ground shake and such. The bunker has a periscope so those inside can recon the situation on the surface. The MI sets up fake scenery that resermbles nuclear destruction in a 360 around where the periscope sight exits the ground. You get the idea.
Once they tricked a guy into thinking they had a perfect counterfeiting machine. Put in a real bill and it spits out a perfect replica. Actually Barney(Greg Morris) is inside the machine with a stack of real money to push out the slot.
"The Killer" guest starred Robert Conrad as a hitman who is suppose to assassinate somebody important. They pick him up at the airport in a fake taxi. He is suppose to go to a certain hotel. The MI team converts an abondoned building into a fake hotel(with just one room) and take him there and he believes he is at the real hotel.

And then there as the masks. Sometimes they wear masks upon masks. One of the two parters has a villian who wears masks.
The only time I really felt let down by the show was the 3-parter "The Falcon". I was so hyped thinking it was going to be one of the best but actually is one of the weakest.

I'm surprised no one has complained that the logo on the front isn't the logo from the TV show. I've already passed on some information about it that I hope will get to the appropriate people at CBS.

At the HTF, there's a discussion about the logo art in the MI DVD release thread:
