Fincher's "Zodiac" comes out in September so I wouldn't be surprised if Universal was holding the R1 release back to cash in when that film is released theatrically.

I'm thinking the eventual R1 edition will have more extras.

No it won't. These are all the extras from the Criterion laserdisc. They're not going to add anything to that.

Mod note: CanDVDFan & scott1598 it's not really worth getting so worked up over a DVD. Phrases like "get over it" and calling people "jerks" aren't really necessary.

Unfortunately. I always loved the contrast of his commentaries from the Seven laserdisc and DVD. At the time of the laserdisc version he was prepping The Game and found it interesting to hear his comments looking back a couple of films later. I would've liked to hear his thoughts now, nine years since its release.

Aside from that, commentary on all extra material including the trailers is a great feature!

There's talk that the film may in fact come out 26 January 2007. Considering the things I've heard Fincher wants to do in his film (i.e. creating entire photorealistic CG environments along the lines of what he did for the recent Nine Inch Nails music video "Only") and the fact he is a perfectionist, I can fully believe the film will be in post until then.

Sounds cool! But why would he use that? I mean the film sound a lot like seven....
Also maybe the R1 dvd will have the pysho tests from the CC disc and maybe dts?

That's true! Is the psychological test not there?

While I'd love to have this just with the existing extras, I'd also like some new stuff, maybe just an interview with Fincher.

I liked The Game and have been waiting for an SE for what seems like an eternity, but the longer this release gets delayed the less I care about it.

Dark low-lit lighting and Super 35 photography = grainy picture. The picture was shot to look like this. Its simple. The DVD will never look anybetter than this. Its not a glossy brightly lit hollywood film. Dont blame me. Blame the cinematographer, director or the telecine artist.

I feel totally different. I've been waiting for an eternity, but the longer it gets delayed, that's ok with me, I've already been waiting this long! I will be equally as excited to get it once it comes out. At least we know it's on the horizon.

The Game was shot with the same silver halide retention process as Seven, which allows for extreme low-light shooting. It shouldn't look that grainy if properly transferred from the correct source elements. Note how much better the re-release of Seven looked in comparison to the original DVD.

Was watching this the other night and was curious about one thing:
Spoiler:
Was there ever an explanation given for Douglas' gun not killing Sean Penn at the end? It was my understanding that the gun was real, as Deborah Unger's character stated.

The non-OAR HD version they run on Showtike looks pretty damn good.

There was an explanation. She said there were squibs worn by the actors like the movies with blanks as ammo.
