Actually, your competitor does. In addition, I have films from the 30s and 00s. Not that the year of a film being released has anything to do with this competition, but I did want to address this point.

I am not sure what video defects you are mentioning in the Brotherhood of the Wolf release (3-disc SE). I don't have the most amazing HT setup, but I have never noticed any issue with these discs (aside from being simply amazing). In fact, the DVDTalk review (link review for this release also mentions nothing in this regard. I've never seen the 1-Disc release, perhaps this is what you are thinking of?

While you may consider Amelie overrated, many do not (hence why it is generally so highly regarded). I think Amelie is a terribly fine film which I enjoyed greatly. In addition, the DVD release is supurb and loaded with extras and great PQ.

ryuryu2949, I think you have a great collection and don't feel the need to trash any of your selections. But I did want to come to the defense of my collection.

It is well documented that the American 1-disc Brotherhood has a much better transfer than the 3-disc Canadian edition. And now that you mention it, I must have a '30s film in my Hitchcock collection (but you are right, I dont have a '00 disc).

Good luck if you hold on to win in the next 30 minutes (an unfortunate, but likely prospect). This was nothing personal, and you responded to my posts with class, but I really can't believe this is happening to my collection.

Is the second round going to be made from bracket-like format? AKA winner of 1 plays winner of 2... winner of 15 plays the Bye...

Or is it just randomly drawn again?

Right now I am down 23-18 by my count. So I need 5 more votes. Cmon everyone, don't you want to vote for Scorcese (Goodfellas), Kubrick (Spartacus), Spielberg (Schindler's List), and Hitchcock (Signature Collection including North by Northwest)???

Hopefully instead they will vote for David Lean (Bridge on River Kwai), Robert Altman (Short Cuts), David Lynch (Eraserhead), Fritz Lang (Fury - in Controversial Classics set), and Elia Kazan (A Face in the Crowd - in Controversial Classics set.

Yea, you could see films from these directors that, except possibly for Shortcuts, are "secondary films" and not really in the discussion as to whether they are the director's true masterpiece. With my collection, you could make a good case that Goodfellas, The Killer, North by Northwest, Schindler's List, and Alien are that particular director's top films. Please, try and tell me that Bridge is better than Lawrence, or that A Face in the Crowd rivals On the Waterfront. You won't because you can't.

Do DVD Talk Drafts usually get this ugly so early on? Or is this part of the "fun"?

This one seems to be a bit harsher in the first round than the last, but its still all in good fun(I sure hope so anyway). Sometimes the voters can come off harsher than the campaigners.

Fun, my ass. I take this shit seriously and am most disappointed at the conspiracy to eliminate me early. Everyone knows I'm the front-runner, so they gang up on me early to avoid the competition, like voting off the strongest guy in Survivor. At least a few of you still have your integrity.

I prefer "Bridge" to "Lawrence", but certainly yield on the Kazan films. However, as a member of the Controversial Classics set, A Face in the Crowd certainly brings a lot to the table. It also includes a great documentary on some of the controversary surrounding Kazan.

I think you might do better by promoting your collection versus attempting to disclaim mine. It seems that despite your disbelief the voters like my colleciton, so perhaps concentrating on your own collection is the way to go. As I said before, I'm not going disparage your entry (because, in part, it would probably be hard to do so).

I think I'm down around 2 votes right now... I don't mind if I lose, since my opponent has an excellent collection, but if anyone wants to help with a come-from-behind last-minute victory (or, alternatively, bury me for good), now's your chance.

I drafted Lawrence of Arabia and I like Bridge on the River Kwai better. Nothing else Woo has done can touch The Killer, though. I don't think you need a qualifier for that.
