Rare DVDs, both in print and OOP, that you've never seen before in person?

The OOP French R2/PAL release of Raul Ruiz' "Le temps retrouve" ("Time Regained") with the all-things-Proust DVD-Rom. Don't know much about this release except that it's supposed to be anamorphic (unlike the crappy R1) and has that interesting sounding DVD-Rom. More disc details here: http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASI...900441-0458633
If anyone knows anything more about this disc, I'd love to hear it! If anyone has this disc, I'd love to talk about making you a deal for it!

I don't think there are any rare dvds that I've wanted that I actually have not come across at some point. If I wanted something...I could/can find it. Had I wanted Salo...I would have bought it when a buddy of mine would have sold it to me for about $50 4 years back. Still no desire to own it, though. I think he got rid of it for a few hundie.

I don't buy DVDs in the store anymore so I haven't seen a lot of new dvds. Lords of Dogtown Unrated!! OMG!!

I have lucked into Anchor Bay tins of Hellraiser / Hellraiser II and Evil Dead II at Gamestop recently, as well as a copy of Silence of the Lambs CC (verified as legit) and a couple copies of Thunderball SE as well as several other rare Bonds.

I have never watched my copy of Hard Boiled CC. And my sealed copy of the "unrated" Swamp Thing is collecting dust, but I couldn't find anyone to buy that on eBay for the $9.99 I paid for it now that the new rated version is available.

Having a limited number to 5000 available in US (not in Canada, a neighboring R1), that is a lot of production for a tin.
Have it auctioned (And not placing a Reserve price and Buy It Now Cost) around $20 (since its used) then see how bidders hunger for it, it might sky rocket above $50.

I guess the copy of Condorman I found traded-in at Blockbuster last year is a pretty rare one - listed right now on Amazon for $219.99. (Now I wish I hadn't sold it to dvds123.com for ~$50, in the days before I discovered how easy it is to sell at Amazon.)

CD Warehouse around here likes to base their prices off of Amazon when it comes to OOP. It usually ends up being about $7-$10 cheaper, which more or less accounts for the gouging sellers to do make back the Amazon commissions, which are pretty steep.
It's not the right market by which to gauge OOP titles worth, because it is solid, and influenced by ONE seller, not fluctuating, and based on an actual market, like eBay.
Pawn America does the same thing very rarely, given they know what they actually have. I got "My So Called Life" for $15, and 007 Bond Collection 1 for $50, and they tried to sell "Taken" for $50 as well, which was based on Amazon prices. It's hit or miss.

In any event, having made over 100 sales there in the last year (many of them rare OOP stuff) I prefer Amazon as a stable market vs a fluctuating one like ebay. A while back I bought a copy of A View to a Kill for $12 on eBay to complete a Bond SE Vol 3 someone had traded in at Gamestop - a few days later they found the missing one and I turned around and sold the extra on Amazon for $28 in a couple days. Which is the more accurate market? Also, Amazon does fluctuate quite a bit - once the Walmart supply dried up, the low price on Fletch has varied between $43 and $68 for sealed copies (since the beginning of December.)

..but let me ask you this. How fair is the turnaround on an Amazon sale? I sell what I buy to resell almost immediately. Reason being is because I go to pawn shops/GameStop stores 4 times a week, and I don't have time to wait for things to sell.

'The Evil Dead Lunchbox Edition. Been quite a while that its not seen in stores/online auctions.'
Wow... forgot about this... I bought this as a present one year for my best friend... There are many OOP DVDs I've never seen, but none I really care about... I've seen just about every CC in stores (been collecting since '98, even own the John Woo CCs), except Salo, which I saw in an indie rental place here...
Didn't even know Condorman and Little Witches were on DVD... haven't seen those, I believe...
Here... never seen the R2 Japanese Princess Blade LE. There you go!

[QUOTE=NCYankee]Perhaps on the rare occasion that there is only one seller listing a particular item - but in that case it might be the ONLY place to find a particular item. There are no current or completed listings for the version of Condorman I linked to above - the less rare version listed at $119 has half.com listings for $99 and $129, and a completed eBay sale at $68 for a seemingly legit copy (there is one up for sale right now that looks like an import - R0 and 5.1, the original was 2.0.)
What the hell happened on Condorman. I used to see it for 5-6 dollars all the time. Now I am pissed that I didn't buy it.
