This is hilarious and ridiculous simultaneously and at the same time. Strange that WB of all companies would FUBAR this that badly.

I'm not surprised. Wanrer Bros fucks everything up. I wouldn't expect a replacement disc anytime in the future...So no, I won't be buying this...assholes

Well that blows. Any news wether its only on some sets or are all the boxsets affected? And what is WB planning to do to fix this?

So we know about the Superman III pressing error only because of reports from those who have received copies early. Which means WHV has yet to officially acknowledge the problem, though they are probably aware of it by now.

And we don't know if this affects all copies of the Ultimate Collection in R1, but it doesn't seem unreasonable. So if you buy the set on the 28th, and you find the wrong disc, there's likely no point to taking it back.

I suspect, once more and more people put in their Superman III discs and discover no commentary or documentary or additional scenes, complaints will be sent, and Warner will establish a disc exchange program.

i'm sure they'll do right by everyone.

I also saw Superman Returns out early in a truck stop on my way home from a holiday visit...so if you want it bad enough...22.99 for the single disc ouch

Super Blunder

Further Details:
Those of you who have pre-ordered copies of Warner Home Video's forthcoming Superman: Ultimate Collector's Edition might want to think twice. Due to a massive technical blunder, the Superman III: Deluxe Edition discs contain the original 2001 release of the film, rather than the advertised disc with commentary, additional scenes and a vintage featurette.

Reports indicate that The Christopher Reeve Superman Collection and the individual release of Superman III: Deluxe Edition are unaffected. At this time there has been no word on whether or not Warner intend to issue replacement discs. Even if replacement discs are made available, non-US residents who purchased the set will most likely be left out in the cold. When you combine this with the fact that the advertised original 1978 Dolby Stereo soundtrack for Superman: The Movie is also missing, what could have been the year's best release becomes a less than attractive proposition...

So this is why there have not been any reviews of the Ultimate Collection...

This sucks though, I already ordered it with a 25% off coupon from B&N..
Hopefully WB will set up a simple program that will send buyers a new replacement disk...

Well, the easy solution for me is to just buy the "Christopher Reeve Superman Collection" now. It apparently has the correct release. There is already much talk about a bigger and better release of RETURNS planned, so I can hold out for that one.

I ordered from Overstock, in order to earn miles for my US Airways Dividend Miles account and keep it active. Per Overstock's policy, can't cancel before it ships. But at least the mis-pressing of Superman III is the worst thing, and I can live without the original sound mix on Superman: The Movie.

I'm upset about this mix up regardless. If they do set up a replacement program, I shouldn't have to make a phone call, be put on hold, send my defective disc in and wait, especially if I'm forking over more than $50 for this set.

I'm going to hold off on buying it until Warner Brothers issues a statement about the error and what they're going to do about it.

Im definitely holding out on buying it as well. Not only that, but I'm not going to pick up any of the single movies or the new one until I hear this has been corrected for sure. Not one mistake I've had with Warner Bros in Canada here has been corrected, no matter how many emails and and other sites I've contacted so I'm not expecting them to change anytime soon. This really sucks though.

I'm only getting the HD discs, but damn, that's too bad.

It probably deserves its own thread. A thread titled as a warning would alert more people than one that's just a question about possible upcoming discs.

This is very disappointing, this was one of my most anticipated releases of the year. I will not be buying this set til WB announces a replacement program.

Given the high profile of the release, it's almost assured there will be a replacement program. I'm getting it now when the price is pretty cheap (thanks to B&N). I didn't plan on watching Pt III anytime soon, so it's a non-issue other than being dumbfounded how such a thing can happen.

I'm guessing now that the Canadian release has the same problem? If not people could import pretty cheaply.

Why does the Best Buy ad say that the Ultimate Collection contains "all 6 Superman films"?

Are they considering the Donner cut of II a separate movie?

Does anyone now if the new "Superman - The Movie" looks any better than the 2001 version?

As someone said on another forum, why were this old Superman III discs even around? There not in any of the current box sets, which means some factory has gone to the trouble of pulling a master from archive, making new discs and printing the new artwork on them.

That is one HUGE mistake.

Isn't Supergirl part of the boxset?
