Will high gas prices curb your DVD spending?

Not really as I'm on a tight budget and have been very selective with DVD purchases the past couple of years anyway.
It will cause me to pause more on picking up the $10 or under bargain title that isn't really a must have though, as I can't cut back my driving any.

I spent eight bucks in gas roundtrip picking up three Superbits for $9.99 at BB the other day. It cost me nine dollars shipping and handling to pick up 6 more online. My disposable $ are the ones that will be devastated with the high gas prices. Just another reason to stay home and watch more flix.

It won't since i don't have a car. But i haven't bought a DVD since May or June. But it will change as soon as i order Nightmare on Elm Street collection on DDD's website. It's a steal even though i'm in Canada.

It's certainly made me more selective...but what it's really curbed is my movie-going - I haven't been to a movie since the 1st week of July...beacuse that's the cost of a movie AND the cost of gas getting to the theater!

I drive a Chevy Avalanche Z71. Half a tank cost $30.00 a few days ago and now I see I should have filled up after all. So around $65/week at least just on gas.
Fortunately BB, CC and Fry's are all on my way home from work, so there's no extra gas spent getting to them. I'd cut WAY back on DVDs over the last year and a half just so I could focus on paying off bills. I've paid off 3 credit cards and my student loan this year, and now I've got stacks of DVDs I haven't even watched yet (all bought on sale). I'm cutting back down in the next few weeks anyway (house needs a new fence), but at least I'll have stuff to watch for a while.

Not only is the gas getting crazy, we're having baby in December. I'm trying to cut back across the board. I'm only buying when something REALLY good comes out... good thread!

Not the DVD buying, but it will affect my DVD lunch. Every Tuesday I meet a couple/few guys at Best Buy for DVDs and then lunch at one of a restaurants right nearby. Gonna have ta stop both lunch out and the roundtrip.
...for a while at least.

Luckily, there's no DVDs that I have to have until 9/27 when the Family Guy DVD comes out. Until then, it's Netflix for me. Gas was $3.10 a gallon here in MD yesterday, I hate to see what it's like today. If I buy a DVD, BB and CC are both about 6 miles away so it's not too bad.

Quite the opposite. It will increase my buying.
I will be cutting down on my "leisure" driving drastically, which will leave me more spare time at home. More spare time at home = more DVD viewing = more DVD buying.

Living in Houston where cars are a must to do anything really sucks right now. Houston is one of those places where walking is pointless becuase of the heat, distance, and lack of sidewalks. I have to drive to college and work everyday and spend 30 bucks a week easily (driving a compact car). There really isn't alternate trasnportation here. And add the outragous costs of college books to my gas costs, I now keep a list of new releases that I have been unable to purcahse and hope I will be able to pick them up at DDD next 20% sale.

I am definitely curtailing my DVD expenses. Not just because of gas prices but I am seeing a pattern where the prices are dropping aggressively in a shorter period of time (ie, DVDs are hitting the 2 for $20 and 2 for $15 bins sooner rather than later).
For the must-haves (ie, SW EP3), I will get those on release dates.

No effect, but (other than DDD 20% off sales) I'm not buying much these days anyway.
