Which Platoon DVD to hold on to?

I have the original black case DVD of Platoon but i'm not very happy with the sound though. They have released another version later on I think it's a Special edition if I remember correctly, should I dump the original black case DVD and go for the later version? Is the sound in the later version a whole lot better than the original?

Get the SE. The extras are great and it's only 10 bucks.

the original black version has all the same commentaries extras as the mgm special edition... ithink the only improvement was the transfer.....i still have the old disc (which was worth a small fortune for a while)

Old platoon disc...need some knowledge about commentary

Yeah, I've kept my old snapper as well - it cost me like thirty bucks b/c it was so hard to find for so long... I just can't bring myself to ever get rid of that dvd...

So the transfer is the only difference?

As long as it has the same extras, who cares if it's a better transfer?

People like me.

Those who are watching on a larger display, and those who are viewing on an HDTV display, and those who have had their sets ISF calibrated, and those who do not think much of extras, but consider most of them a self-serving waste of time.

(Remember, we all mistakenly believe that our market tastes are the same as "most" others...)

I believe the documentary on the movie included on the disc (it's on my R2 release) is one of the best ever made. People are truly missing out if all they care about is the AV quality. Don't get me wrong, AV quality is very important, but you shouldn't always discount extras on a DVD.

^ I guess that's why some people own both the Superbit and the regular (with features) versions of the same movie.

How much better is the Platoon transfer?
