Hmm...i thought this was just the right length (if maybe 5 minutes too long) in theaters. I don't know if I can stand another 16 minutes of it inserted into the movie...but it looks like I don't have much of a choice.

Loved the movie but hated the ending. Maybe they will tinker with that a little bit.
I thought this movie was way funnier than Wedding Crashers.

This release is just like The Ring 2, where the Rated version is only Full Screen.
I, like most, will get the unrated. But if you want to own a widescreen copy of the Rated version, you're SOL.

But what if you check out the Unrated Cut and you simply prefer the theatrical version? You're stuck with only the craptastic FF transfer?
What a stupid release structure.

Oh man, the only thing that kept this from classic comedy status was the fact that it's easily 15 minutes too long... So now, if I want to get in widescreen, I'll have to watch a cut that's even LONGER??? No comedy should be as long as a Harry Potter movie.
This could seriously keep me from buying it. Too bad.

I'm so sick of this "Unrated" trend. It's okay with PG-13 movies. But the movie was R Rated and a pretty strong R-Rating it was. All they are going to do is insert deleted scenes which were deleted for the sake of flow and not belonging. It's no director's cut.
This movie was my favorite movie of the year, and I just want it as what I saw in the theaters on an anamorphic video, not full-screen..

As far as explaining, it's impossible to explain to someone why something is funny if they think it's not. I just think you're in the minority on this one.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to write a letter to Universal bitching about them not releasing the theatrical version in widescreen.

The ending was excellent, one of the best endings to a comedy I've ever seen. First, there is the fact that it respects the traditional structure of romantic comedy by ending in a wedding. Second, in an age where entertainment is often characterized by smug irony and cynical detachment, the ending is genuinely uplifting and refreshingly joyous. I didn't laugh during the ending, but I smiled through the whole thing.

I was going to agree that the ending was bad, but I thought people were referring to the forced lame disagreement/fight that always work their way into movies like this. The fight scenes and following makeup were poorly thought out. It should have involved the daughter breaking the news of his virginity to the mother.
The song/dance sequence at the very end was great though.

They should do more seamless branching. As I understand it some players have problems with it...but maybe if it had been done more up to this point those problems would have been ironed out.

How can you not love the ending..in this age of predictable crap, it was refreshing to see something different. In fact that other possible ending mentioned above was going through my mind as that scene was playing out and I'm thinking he's just going to keep being awful at it,..then he bursts out singing..great stuff, my date practically peed her pants.

Why is there a special feature that is only available on the full screen/rated edition?

That's fucked- they did it right with American Wedding having BOTH cuts on the disc, plus a separate one with just the R version for Wal-Mart and other prudish retailers.

It wouldn't be a big issue if the movie wasn't overly long as is. It felt like the theatrical edition was "Extended".

while I thought the movie was generally one of the better comedy films of the year - my only prob with it was even at 1 hour 57 minutes - it felt too long. 16 extra minutes - that's kind of pushing it. still gonna rent it to see the extra scenes, though.
