About Time! (Totoro and Howl's Moving Castle in Spring 2006)

According to Disney's Studio Ghibil site's (HERE) trailer, both My Neighbor Totoro and Howl's Moving Castle are slated for Spring 2006!

Awesome, although Christmas time would've been better. Maybe this info should go over in the 'Mayazaki For Dummies' thread.

I can't wait to hear Howl's Moving Castle in Dolby Digital EX sound, since the theatre 'sound' experience I saw it in was pretty lacklustre

Wasn't Totoro supposed to be released a while ago? I'll believe it when I see it.

Dang. That seems like a Hell of a wait for Howl's. Oh well. Guess I'll wait. Saw it twice in the theater (once in English because of friends who are anti subtitle) and I'm ready for more.

Great! But are they sticking to two Ghibli DVDs per wave now, opposed to three? They still need to release Princess Mononoke, Only Yesterday, Whisper of the Heart, so hopefully these will be the last wave. I wonder if Disney will put the various Ghibli shorts on DVD after they're done with features.

That's a pretty long wait for Howl's Moving Castle, but maybe they're waiting for the Academy Awards

Excellent. I never saw Howl's Moving Castle in theaters, so I'm looking forward to the DVD. Still no news on when the R2 Japanese DVD will be out.

Mononoke was released under Miramax a few years ago. Isn't it still available in stores?

I'm talking about a new transfer and a 2-disc edition to compliment the other Ghibli releases.

Speaking of which, why isn't Yamadas a 2-disc set? I just assumed it would be, since all the previous titles in the other waves were...

I think only the Miyazaki directed titles are getting 2 discers

Miyazaki didn't direct Pom Poko, and it's a 2-discer.

Because the Japanese Yamadas DVD is 1 disc. I think Yamadas was the 1st Ghibli movie released on DVD in Japan.

Anybody have the R2 Japanese version of the Yamadas? I've been meaning to pick it up for the DTS track but if the R1 is comparable, may save some bucks and pick it up.
Anyone?

I have a bootleg VHS copy of the JPN DVD. The R1 has everything that the Jpn DVD has except the free 24 page comic book & the excelllent Ghibli Collection & Castle of Cagliostro trailers & the French subtitles. I guess the DTS track is also missing.

France is getting a 6 film Ghibli boxset this Christmas.
