Quote: Future Shop has the movie ticket exclusive in Canada and the tickets are good for just about ALL THEATRES IN CANADA... but you must see Kong before January 1, 2006 to use the freebie...

Would you happen to know what, if any, are the other restrictions are on the free ticket?

The only other "restriction" is the ticket is worth a maximum admission of $10 CDN, so if you see it anywhere that has tickets more than that, you're going to have to pay the difference. Other than those 2, the ticket has no other restrictions... a great deal overall...

Bought it yesterday at CC in Nashua NH -- they had 2 copies, made in Taiwan.
Inside, there were 2 King Kong tickets!
Good bet that the other copy at CC has 2 tickets inside as well, so good luck!

Are you able to see Made in Taiwan somewhere on the package?

I looked all over several Frighteners at Best Buy, and most had hard-to-see Made in Mexico stickers on the slipcase, but a few of them didn't, and none of them had any stickers on the outside of the DVD case itself.

Is the trick to find one without a Made in Mexico sticker on the slipcase and hope that nobody switched the DVD case inside?

so what is this controversy over "Made in Mexico" or "Made in Taiwan"...can someone summarize?

I got one of the two copies at the Boston Best Buy last night. They were in the sci-fi section, with one of those little white display signs on the shelf in front.

I haven't had any problems with my "made in Mexico" copy. Watched both sides with no issues.

Got mine today after our store got a bunch more copies. No stickers to be found.

Hey Manzana,
The one I bought -- there is a "Made in Taiwan" sticker on the SLIPCASE -- it's easy to see because the "Made in Taiwan" letters are black on a WHITE sticker -- can't miss it (unlike the Mexico sticker which is not white, thus tougher to see).

I got stuck with a defective copy I got from DDD today. The disc totally skipped over Frank's "out of body experience" (where he dies in the freezer to help save the girl). I took the disc out and noticed a small patch of some kind of "goo" on there - which I tried to clean but only made a film on the disc. It still didn't play that whole chapter - so back to DDD it goes for a replacement! How frustrating, since I was totally into the movie and then it did that right then! I was about to crush my remote control in my hand!!!

This is truely getting very annoying. It seems they all skip at the same part too, because thats exactly where mine skipped. Does anyone know if you ordered a dvd from bestbuy online if its possible to take it back to the store and get an exchange? I can't seem to find the answer in their return policy.

My Taiwan disc doesn't skip, but the subtitles come on automatically on all the special features.

FYI, the "out of body experience" section is where the layer change is.

where's the email address for universal.

That would be me that picked up the second copy last night. It was tucked away in the sci-fi section if I remember correctly.

I haven't opened it up yet to check the ticket status. I was going to put it under the tree, but now I'm tempted to open in and check, and then toss it under the tree.

Hrmmm.

DVDs probably shouldn't ever be tossed.

I'm gonna have to check mine soon, I guess. I didn't notice any "Made In..." sticker though.

I gave in and opened it - no second King Kong ticket.

I think you got an extra Christmas present from Universal in the form of an extra ticket. Woot woot. Congrats.

so does the DC make this a better film (for me at least)? how many more minutes is it? and is there more of a horror/gore factor?

Has anyone who got a Frighteners package without any Made in ____ stickers determined if those unlabeled ones are Made in Mexico or Taiwan?

All I know is of the few I saw at Borders and Best Buy (so far) they all had Made in Mexico stickers or no stickers on the slipcase. None had Made in Taiwan stickers.

Since I can't find any Taiwan ones, I decided to take my chances with Columbia House and order it using Funcash that I have to use before the end of the year.

Exactly right. I had zero problems with my "Mexico" copy. It did the layer change at the "out of body experience" with a slight pause only. Maybe there is just a bad batch out there.

Mine did a slight pause at the part where she stuck the needle in his arm and then just totally skipped to the part where she is in the backseat of the car at the cemetary with that weirdo investigator showing her his swastika on his palm.

Even when I tried to back up to see what I missed, it just wouldn't budge. I was so pissed! I had to watch the movie and miss that 10 minutes (or so) worth of it (a whole chapter!)!!!
