Man of the House will not play widescreen on JVC XV-FA95
Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else, but searching for "Man of the House" didn't return anything useful.
Has anyone else run into this? I've seen various mentions of Hitch and Spanglish (the latter having played for me with no problem) having similar issues due to Sony's protection, but most of it was about 'backing up' the dvd, not just trying to play it.
What happens:
Load DVD, SPE splash plays
Previews start (can hit menu at this point)
Menu comes up, select Play Movie
Select Widescreen
Various warnings and/or disclaimers play
Menu comes back up
Try to do a scene selection, returns to main menu
Try to click Play Movie again, it drops out of the dvd completely
Try selecting French as the language, same results (if using either of the above methods of getting into the movie)
Just for the sake of trying it (based on some weird thing I saw about another dvd), I also turned off progressive when trying to play it (again, with no luck).
I have had no other problems playing movies with this dvd player.
Any suggestions? I've already exchanged 1 copy and the second one is performing (or not performing) in the exact same manner.
