You could create a card catalog like libraries have hehe. You can print out dewey decimal labels for everything. Who knew dvds could be so much fun!

Mikko, interesting concept. Your label creations seem to be top notch

In my case, however, I don't think I have the encyclopedic knowledge to know which studio is behind a specific film. I store my movies sorted alpahbetically.

Obviously you're color blind.

I sort mine by putting the side that opens facing out so that they all look the same.

Then I use the power of God to find the movie I'm looking for.

I thought I would bring this year old thread back up for air.

A lot of people were bashing me for being OCD or bored. OCD yes. But only when it comes to my DVDs.

Yes, I still have my DVDs sorted by studio and then by color. Don't ask me why, but I just think it looks good. And believe it or not, I can tell you where every DVD is in my collection. It takes me 3 seconds to find something. I guess because I've been doing it like this for so long that I know where everything is.

I was thinking about sorting them by decade but my wife is already used to the way we have it now.

Maybe I should sort them like John Cusack's character in High Fidelity....autobiographical.

I think you should start over again and reorganize them according to the numerical order on their UPC codes.

Or organize them so when you step back you can see a bigger picture, like those posters with all the small photos that create one huge image. Now that would be challenging.
