Saw several TV ads for it this weekend while watching football.

Begun, the marketing push has.

Not sure who all is aware of this, but all indications point to a Darth Vader lithograph as the free Best Buy exclusive (for Reward Zone members only). No slip box for the prequels cases or anything else.

See here.

Nice piece--might be tempted if I was a member of Reward Zone--but Wal-Mart still seems to have the best deal around. With nearly 60 minutes of content, I can't believe The Story of Star Wars will be some indulgence in mediocrity. Perhaps some will get early copies and offer reviews before release day. If the consensus of opinion is that it's crap, I may then skip it.

According to the information posted in this HTF thread here, the cover art for Episode III in Canada will be bilingual as well!

Is the Wal-Mart exclusive considered canon? If so, then I guess Threepio may not have gotten the memory wipe afterall, since he is telling the story of both Anakin and Luke.

I wish someone would post a review of the extra Wal-Mart disc, as I will be having a horror film festival that night and don't see how interrupting it to get Star Wars would make sense. If the DVD turns out to be crap, then I could just wait until Best Buy and get the lith instead.

Why do all these directors insist on cutting character-based scenes such as these? I just hope there's a branching option to include it in the movie.

That would fit perfectly right after he and Obi-Wan slaughter the troopers on Coruscant after Code 66 has been issued Break it down!

Target is also getting an exclusive 2CD "Best of" cd set. Not sure what's on it. Got the info from HTF. It's not a freebie but still a tie-in with the DVD release.

I saw that in our ad for next week. I think it's a 2-CD best of soundtrack. That and the DVD are going to be $14.99 I believe. And our freebie's going to be a coin with Vader and Episode III on it.

No idea on the track listing, but the cover art is basically reddish and spacey, with "The Best of Star Wars 1-6" or something in the middle, flanked by 3 character pictures from top to bottom on either side. Can't remember excatly who but I'm pretty sure one of them was Sir Alec's Obi Wan. It'll be on the front cover of the ad due out on Sunday.

I thought you had a region free player. What's the problem with getting it?

It's PAL.

Not to mention the fact that I'm already starting to not buy other regions whenever possible. They're a bitch to sell after the fact and I'm already preparing for Blu-ray the same way I did with DVD.

Eventually, all of these DVD's will be sold.

Vader in the middle, 6 characters on the sides. Very cool. I like the artwork. I'll probably pop in to get it. I'm a whore for John Williams and Star Wars.

A little late but:

The Apprentice
Thursday November 10th
9pm

The task: promote the DVD release of Revenge of the Sith and a Star Wars videogame.

************

From what I've seen, there's NOTHING special about this campaign.

Someone screwed up here by deciding to air the Sith promotion episode over a week after the DVD streets. Publicity is promotion, after all. But, wow, a couple of TV ads for the Sith DVD ... those geniuses really came up with a super inventive ad campaign. Why am I not suprised? Zarutha!

Normally I do not complain about such things but this is indeed true. We got the discs at my store today and, low and behold, bilingual cover art not only on the front but, and here is where I issue my first complaint on this topic, the SPINE!

You see, this now messes up how the discs look on my shelf side by side.

In defence of the apprentice thing, they are probably doing this event during the release week, and then it will air the following week. It makes sense. Honestly, does Star wars need more promotion?

Anyways, my store got our shipment in today and i brought this home. So if anyone has a question about anything let me know. I'm planning on checking out the deleted scenes first.
