Do you leave the case open or snap it shut?

Whenever I watch a movie I leave the keepcase open until I'm done then I put the disc back in and close it. I just see no reason to have to open the case twice. Anyone else?

dadaluholla 07-26-05 08:01 AM

Ummmmmmmmmm.

Depends on what kind of mood I'm in I guess?????

GuessWho 07-26-05 08:02 AM

Ladies and gentlemen of DVDTalk,

We have run out of topics.

Atreus 07-26-05 08:06 AM

I like to close the case then place it in the orignal shrinkwrap then drive it over to the store where I purchased it and place it on the shelf until I am done watching the movie.

If I bought it online I just put it in the shrink wrap and then put it in the envelope it arrived in and place it in my mailbox.

vedderstapp 07-26-05 08:20 AM

I like to open the case, remove the disk, dip the case in liquid nitrogen, smash it with a hammer, and spend the duration of whatever is playing trying to put it together.

bboisvert 07-26-05 08:20 AM

In the amount of time it took you to start, type, and then edit this thread, you could have opened and closed 30 keepcases. I question your time management skills...

scottall 07-26-05 08:23 AM

I throw the case away when I take the dvd out. Later I'll toss it onto a spindle. I am way too indecisive to deal with these critical decisions so I think outside the box.

Josh-da-man 07-26-05 08:33 AM

I snap the case shut.

Not only that, but I put an AOL cd in it while I'm the DVD so the prongs don't expand while the DVD is out of it. And I always return the DVD case to shelf in its spot so it doesn't get dusty and the other cases don't tip over.

Then I wash my hands exactly nine times, flick the light switch on and off six times, and walk around my chair in a counterclockwise circle three times before i sit down in it. And I then enjoy the movie.

The way of the future. The way of the future. The way of the future. The way of the future.

Neither

renaldow 07-26-05 09:04 AM

I put the case in the dishwasher and take the oppurtunity to clean it while I'm watching a movie. Everybody says I have the cleanest cases in town!

DeanoBKN 07-26-05 09:31 AM

I like to smell my cases when they aren't in use. It turns me on.

LMAO!

mookiemeister 07-26-05 09:42 AM

I keep it closed but not snap shut.

rexinnih 07-26-05 09:50 AM

Sometimes open. Sometimes closed. I'm such a flip-flopper.

canaryfarmer 07-26-05 10:01 AM

The sad thing is, I'm actually going to think about this now the next time I watch a movie.

djtoell 07-26-05 10:06 AM

It depends on the feng shui of the room I'm in.

gabeon 07-26-05 10:53 AM

I like to close the case....

...and I hold it in my hands the whole time so I can keep reminding myself of the movie on screen.

No, there's nobody else. Open it twice? Can't you open it in the same motion you use to pick it up? It takes no extra energy or actions.

You realize that if you leave it open, 2 hours worth of dust will accumulate inside the case, right?! That's why I close mine.

Bandit03 07-26-05 11:33 AM

I keep mine shut to keep that new DVD smell in there :)

Mopower 07-26-05 11:33 AM

You guys keep the cases? I just throw all the disc's in a big pile in the corner of the room.

dvd-dustin 07-26-05 11:41 AM

I shut it, but then display it proudly on my fireplace mantle, is if it is the feature presentation poster at the theatre!

Then it helps me remember what is in the DVD player and to put it away when I'm done ;)

ty812 07-26-05 11:42 AM

I find even opening the case to be so much work that I avoid it in the first place. That is to say, I never watch any of my DVDs. In fact, they're all sitting there still in the shrinkwrap.

Josh H 07-26-05 11:50 AM

I honestly have no idea. Never paid any attention.

Yep, I think I do it every time.

Although I agree with the above, I will still respond, as I have nothing better to do.

Unless it is a TV Season Set, I close it, and put it in the admittingly dorky "Now Playing" DVD holder that is mounted on the wall next to the screen.

gotrice487 07-26-05 01:54 PM

I keep it closed

ceeece 07-26-05 02:12 PM

Digipak: Open
Case: usually open too. But I close it on occassion.

caiman 07-26-05 02:50 PM

In Soviet Russia, case shuts you!

critterdvd 07-26-05 03:08 PM

It depends on the cover art of the dvd. If I like the cover art, I close the case and put it in my "safe room" that has 100 air filters going at all times... If i don't like the cover art I jump on it till my foot hurts and throw it in the trash.

lol

meshershark 07-26-05 03:23 PM

I leave the case open (ajar, of course, not wide) sitting atop my DVD player (actually now on top of the newly-acquired X-Box that is sitting atop my DVD player). This makes it convenient to replace the disc in its case, and also helps remind me that a disc is in the player. Since I just got the X-Box, I'm still working out what to do with those cases when I have a game inside.

If I'm watching a disc from a larger multipack (e.g. TV series season) I have the pack out of its sleeve and sitting on a table beside the couch.

I bought a 10,000 DVD changer so I never need cases to have to wrestle with this subject matter ever again.
