Crash September 6th

Not much for info on this release. I don't know but I saw this movie and loved it!

Description
Along the seedy streets of Los Angeles, a group of strangers are inextricably brought together. This film examines the racist thoughts that lie within each of us to a certain degree. A series of intriguing vignettes weave these people together. A fascinating exploration of human nature, fear, loss and the courage to survive.

I have not seen this film, so I probably will pick this up this dvd. I'd like to say that everytime I see it's name mentioned, I am a huge fan of David Cronenberg's odd erotic cinematic masterpiece Crash, so seeing that name is kind of confusing for me, the two films have the same name. Since I am hoping that the Criterion Collection releases Cronenberg's Crash on dvd, the New Line version is fine, I want all the extras I have on the Laserdisc on dvd, so seeing that title mentioned get's me excited. As for this Crash, I want to see it badly, so I will pick it up.

Can't wait.

USA Today said that the features are a Paul Haggis commentary, featurettes, and a music video.

Just want to say to all those blind buyers, you might want to consider renting it first.

It is an OK film, but not what many critics say it is (although there is quite a backlash building of critics who can't believe the critical praise). What it attempts to say about race is admirable, but it is also incredibly simplistic. Like someone read a pamphlet about race relations and decided to film it. Bring up every racial stereotype, then try to do something to make you think twice about it.

And, as far as the multi interconnecting storyline goes, it isn't up to MAGNOLIA or SHORT CUTS.

So, you may like it, you may not, but just wanted to say that, for everyone, it isn't THAT great a film.

Most anticipated DVD of the year thus far. Screening it for some folks who haven't seen it on Thursday.

I agree...some caution should be taken with blind buys. I loved it, and it's my "Best Pic of 2005" winner thus far, but I identified with one of the characters on a personal level (having been the 'victim" of a situation similar to the first traffic stop) so I admit I am biased. Some who don't get this connection may not buy into the story/mood/feel.

Loved the movie, but as I said in an earlier thread some relatively well-known actors appear then aren't seen again. So I'm very pleased about a longer, unrated cut...eventually.

loved the movie also, but i couldnt help getting a strong magnolia feel, particularly when you look at the idea of the endings, the intertwining and such; not that thats a bad thing... anyone else?

Not sure if gerrythedon wrote this in jest, but like a couple of the other forum members above, I'm wondering if there's supposed to be an unrated 2-DVD cut as well. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I bought it at Best Buy last week.

It came with an excellent bonus disc that came with some more features, including a soundtrack montage and a script-to-screen comparison.

One of the few movies this year, that I rented, that I couldn't make it to the end.
This is movie of the week screenwriting.
It really shows what a master Robert Altman is.

If you are going to make a movie where numerous unrelated characters have to meet, at least make it believable and convincing.

And we get it already, everyone is a racist! We established that in the first 1/2 hour.
I felt like I was watching that old SNL skit parody of the Real World.

You just hate me because I'm an Eskimo!
