Toy Story 2: 2-Disc Special Edition -- Dec. 26th

According to the commercial at this link:

http://www.totaleclips.com/player/sp...&clipid=e24040

There will be a 2-Disc edition of Toy Story 2 coming out on December 26th. Of course, Dec. 26th is a Monday, so...and you'd also think that Disney would perhaps want to have both Toy Storys on shelves for the holidays? Odd. But there you go.

That's a great film. So is the first one.

I'm glad this is being released. Thanks for the link.

I actually won't be buying it, because I already have the Ultiamte Toy Box. But I know that a lot of people don't have this movie, and other people only have the bare bones disc.

My connection is too slow to play the commercial, but I bet the features are pretty cool. Funny thing is, I bought the Ultimate Toy Box on the day of release, and there are still some features that I haven't watched. I did listen to the comentaries, and I liked them a lot. I hope this new rleease will retain the commentary.

I've lost count of how many seperate releases there have been for these movies. But I am happy with what I have.

Releasing a movie about toys the day after Christmas. Smart.

Of course, with all the money kids get for Christmas anymore, maybe it is smart.

In the commerical, it even says Mon Dec 26th on the screen....

Weird...

Wonder what the extras will be on these releases compared to the UTB

Well, Boxing Day sales are usually huge, so it might work out for them. A bit unconventional, though.

By selling it the day after Christmas, Disney may get additional sales of other DVD's before Christmas. Parents will need to put something under the tree for Christmas Day. Its not like parents will be able to give an IOU for a present unless your Scrooge.
Also, the gift card idead is a good angle

I heard last year that there is a TON of money spent on gift cards now.

Which kind of scares me considering they're doing it without Pixar.

This just might be what pushes me over the edge to unload my UTB. I'm sure the price will tank once everyone picks up on their being new two-disc releases for both of the films.

UltimateDisney says

Toy Story: SE - September 6

Toy Story 2: SE - December 26

Let's hope we never see Toy Story 3 unless Disney and Pixar work out their difference. Even with Disney's recent sequel having higher production levels, it still does not equal Pixar levels.

It's one of the busiest DVD weeks of the year.

I don't know what the extras will be on this new release but it seems like the kinds of extras released these days for these types of films seem to be aimed more for the kids with kid friendly extras (stuff I really don't care about), but the UTB contains some very good adult oriented supplements; so until I hear otherwise, I'll hang on to my UTB.

If it is for sale before Christmas, it would still be for sale after Christmas too...

My UTB pretty much fills all my Toy Story needs, so I'll pass. The 2-disks are good news for those who missed out on it though.

Already sold my UTB in anticipation of these releases. Made more than enough to buy both again.

I already own the Ultimate Toy Box. Are these new discs worth upgrading for...not just for improved video/audio, but for special features?

check out the main toy story thread....looks like most of the old features are being ported over as easter eggs
