House Of Wax - 10/25 (?)

The Digital Bits announced that on 10/18, the House of Wax will open for business.

No specs have been added yet, but supposedly, the MTV Movie Life documentary is a bonus.

EDIT:

Ok, it's now rumored to be the 25th, so we'll see.

I was really hoping for a re-issue of the original on that date too, but it seems unlikely.

Ill pick up the remake. It was cheesy but fun and gory.

That would be interesting... except for the fact that it would melt over time and then get on your DVDs and shelves and clothes and stuff.

This is one of the movies I wouldn't pay to see in the movie theaters. But, when it comes out on DVD, I'll be picking it up at that point to check it out. Better to pay less for a DVD and watch it as many times as you want, as opposed to paying MORE for it to see it ONE time in the theaters.

I thought it was a good little grisly thriller and will probably be picking it up as well.

Yeah, that was great...along with Parises death scene which had some painful moments before she was finally killed. It really made me jump and squirm in pain. A good reaction since most films today,no matter how gory/violent usually don't affect me,since they are directed rather blandly and feel 'fake' so to speak(CGI gore does'nt help either).

So it was nice to see some real gore effects being used for a change and also showing the victims suffer in some way, made it more impactful than a simple "Slash..dead" like most films today.

I was very surprised with this film since I have disliked/been unimpressed with every Dark Castle film so far...until now. Also a steady build up before the thrills and spills also helped as well. Since most films are way to impatient(Amityville Horror remake perfect example) that they become less effective by showing too much, too soon.

It killed me when I saw it, there was a woman shushing everyone in the theater. Apparently she didn't want to miss a word of that potentially Oscar winning dialogue.

Yeah, how dare she try to hear the movie she paid $8 (or more) to see.

Apparently her wanting to actually WATCH the movie interferred with you wanting to turn the theater into your own living room.

Back on topic...

I never saw the movie but always liked the original, so that kept me away. But it seems like some people thought it wasn't that bad so I might end up checking it out on DVD.

the operative word here is "inspired" by the original film. It's not a remake nor should it be perceived as such. Sans the cliched hard rock music and an eyeball rolling allusion to an inevitable sequel, I really dug this movie - the gore and violence were the icing on the cake - one of the very few recent horror movies that truly delivers.

Columbia House has this listed for August 16: House of Wax 3-D Special Edition (Pre-Order) 1953

It's really nothing like the original. It seems like it was inspired by the original House of Wax and Tourist Trap, and combined. The movie wasn't that bad, but wasn't all that great either. The first hour was wasted, but it picked up for the second one.

What the WB should do is a 2-disc with the remake and original in one nice little package.

It would have to be more than two discs, since the 3-D HOUSE OF WAX (1953) is a remake of MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM (1933), an early color film.

Where is this 3D version of the 1953 House Of Wax movie listed? I tried Amazon.com and there's no sign of it on there - is this on Columbia's own website?

Somehow I knew this would hit in time for Halloween sales. How much you want to bet both Land of the Dead and The Devil's Rejects will hit shelves within a week or two of this one?
