Maybe we'll get it around then?

I'm still watching this on HBO Demand. I'll pick this up still as it is a great season thus far.

Based on a review over on Amazon, it looks like this set (which comes out tomorrow) really is in 2.0. Why would the R2 have 5.1 and the R1 2.0? With the price HBO is charging, I think a 5.1 mix should be included if one exists. This just does not make sense to me.

I just finished watching this last night and though I LOVED the entire season (even more than s1) that is a piss poor way to end it. I mean it would be great if there were another season or three on the way but as it stands that ending is just abrupt. I knew something like that would happen before I even started watching s2 but knowing that didn't really prepare me. meh.

im a twin peaks fan, nothing was resolved in that one either. i think even if they had a chance to close it up, they would leave it open so people will wonder and talk about it.

Uh, no. They didn't leave it open on purpose. Carnivale was meant to last 6 seasons, ergo they didn't expect any need to wrap up the story after the second season. Twin Peaks wasn't left open on purpose either- that too was cancelled. However, the big difference here is that Twin Peaks was cancelled with good reason (the second season sucked) whereas Carnivale was simply a victim of the bloated and archaic Neilson system.

i know both shows wasnt meant to end yet. though i think lynch did know he was filming the last episode when he changed the original script into the one that aired.
im just saying, i am content with how both shows ended. of course i would love to see where it went next, but its probably not gonna happen. i have countless films with open endings, so even though thats not how it was intended, im fine with it. what other choice we got.
and i strongly disagree with the second season of TP, sure it had bad moments, as did the first season (anything with big ed and nadine sucks). but it also contained the very best episodes in TV history IMO. if i listed them, it would just be filled with spoilers and i know alot of people are waiting for the season 2 dvd to come out, so i wont do it.
TP was cancelled for the same reasons, as mentioned in the DVDtalk review, "it's still quite painful to know that quality like this is being created by talented and inspired people, and yet it is so rarely embraced by a lazy and disinterested public". i never heard the reason of TP's cancellation being that it "sucked".

Dan Knauf has always said that he envisioned Carnivale to be 6 seasons comprised of 3 2-season "books". What we saw was the conclusion of "Book 1" and so it is natural to feel a certain degree of closure there, but it was far from a satisfactory series ending.

Well for those still in doubt the show is indeed 5.1. Got it sunday (for $45 )
I love this show and to me it feels like it ended alright. It just left it with more to tell; but with the main story concluded and more shit brewing.
If the guy KNOWS theres 4 more seasons left, why not have em released as novels or graphic novels?

I'm all for graphic, or just written, novels. Comics, movies, rock operas, interpretive dances... I don't give a shit, anything.
