Was it only WALMART carrying this at present with a $19.99 tag price?

My Wal-Mart's were $19.44, to be specific.

they're like that.

That's kind of strange. With only two discs in the set, why not package them facing each other like normal digipaks? I can understand the "figure 8" design for sets like The Ultimate Matrix Collection, but there's little to no logic behind it for something like this.

Anyone know if the discs in the Jurassic Park Adventure Pack and the Mummy Collector's Set are packaged the same way?

Tremors 2 is good. Always enjoy it. Seen the original too many times; it's gotten a little old for me now. The third one is okay. Back to Perfection fits. Tony Genaro (Miguel), Charlotte Stewart (Nancy), Ariana Richards (Mindy), and Robert Jayne (Melvin) all return from the original, along with the mainstay of the series, Michael Gross. Not a bad sequel overall. Never seen the fourth beginning to end.

This is curious. A reviewer of this set on Amazon said:

Despite the claims on the packaging for 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, all four movies are presented in 1.78:1 NON-anamorphic widescreen. In fact, the video transfers are exactly the same as those on the previous DVDs.

As some of you have noted, the transfer for the first film is far and away improved over the previous release. (Don't know about the other three.) And I know someone on here would have long ago revealed if the transfers were not encoded for 16:9. I can only assume this person is terribly mistaken regarding the quality. Just found it intriguing.

That guy's WAY out of line...Amazon should better screen buyer feedback.

That guy probably doesn't have his DVD player set up properly or something, because the new anamorphic transfer looks great and is well worth the upgrade.

So that claim is bogus, right?

Tremors 1 is a new transfer?

Tower Records also has it for $19.99 THIS week. I emphasized "this" week because while it was $19.99 @ Tower Records.com last week, when I tried to purchase it last we at my local Tower Records' store, it was $26.99. When asked why, the clerk informed me that "things are always cheaper on the internet".

Re: tremors box set?

Has anyone picked this up recently and would know if this release is still two double sided discs or have they gone to be two single sided discs. I've held off on this because of that reason. I thought Universal would've re-released this set because of the past issues with their double sided discs.

Re: tremors box set?

I ordered it from Deep Discount November of last year - the set I got had 2 double-sided discs.

As far as I know they have never gone back and altered a release already available due to these issues. They updated their Casino and Carlito's Way flippers for that Gangster collection, but the releases available separately remained the same. In any case, single-sided DVDs wouldn't be possible without nixing all of Tremors' extras, so don't hold your breath.

Re: tremors box set?

I doubt Uni would go back and make a 2 disc DVD set a 4 Disc DVD set which means more discs and more space taken up on valuable retail space. Isn't that kind of stupid?

Re: tremors box set?

I have this set. It's 2 double-sided discs and my second disc (Tremors 3 and 4) is defective. I still haven't gotten around to watching 4, but 3 suffers from the usual glitches late in the film that plague these double-sided disgraces, er, discs.

I made a duplicate of the opposite side of the first disc (Tremors 2) so I can avoid that flip-over nonsense.

Tremors 1 looks fantastic, especially compared to the original non-anamorphic release.

Re: tremors box set?

Looks like i'll still be holding off on this set. Universal should at least re-release the first movie alone with the new transfer. I wouldn't mind just having it just bare bones as long as it was anamorphic. They should also do the same for The Great Outdoors and Kindergarten cop. Come on Universal show some respect to your older catalog titles!

I've been keeping track of their anamorphic reissues and they've yet to release any of them individually. The sets are cheap, just bite the bullet and get some.

Re: tremors box set?

Went to Best Buy and saw alot of the Tremors sets on the shelf for $14.99. They are now in keepcases, but are still the same 2 flipper discs from the digi-pak.

I agree with alot of people in not releasing them on 4 discs. I hate the flipper discs. You can get 3 and 4 at Big Lots now for $3 each. Wish they would remaster the first. With all the technology they have now, they could of at least put two on the same side.

Re: tremors box set?

Flippers totally suck. But, man. . .that tremors set at the beginning of this thread is cool. I never knew about that one.

To do that would mean eliminating the bonus features, which is not a trade-off I like (although Universal removed several of the bonus features from Tremors 4 anyway, so...)
