Star Trek Nemesis CE - Oct 4th
From the bits...
And for you Star Trek fans, look for the 2-disc Star Trek: Nemesis - Special Collector's Edition on 10/4. As many of you know, Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Second Season is currently due on 7/26. Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Third Season is officially slated for 9/20 (that's confirmed). Rounding out the series' release, Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Fourth Season should arrive on 11/1. Also... and this is something of a surprise... our sources are currently telling us that Star Trek: The Complete Animated Series is tentatively planned for DVD release in September (on 9/6). There will also be a new Star Trek: The Motion Pictures DVD Collection box set on 10/4, along with a 4-season Star Trek: Enterprise - The Complete Series set on 11/1.

The fact that it's coming out this soon after Insurrection makes me think it's probably not. Maybe I'm wrong and they've been secretly working on it already, but so far all of our hopes for re-edited Trek films have been dashed (except for TMP), and I have little hope for Nemesis.

P.S. For the slow ones in the crowd, that's a joke -- I say a joke, son.

I can only hope that the SE for Nemesis includes all of the much baleyhooed cut scenes hopefully reintergrated into the film.

As a late-comer to DVD, I didn't have to worry about double-dips on most of the Trek films, so I happily bought the two-disc editions of I, II, IV, VI, Generations, First Contact and Insurrection.
But Nemesis was among my first DVD buys, and why I got a player. I doubt I'll double-dip on it. Sure, the extras are nice, but the main draw to the older movies was to get a better transfer. I don't see how Nemesis could get any better in that department.

I certainly hope all those deleted scenes are included. Much of the talk makes it sound like all the stuff that was deleted was what would of made it more of a Trek movie (meaning more character-driven scenes).

I'll definitely be picking that up too. I've avoided buying any of the ST movies in anticipation of this.

Now that they're done, they should really go back and let Shatner "fix" Trek V. Paramount is going to be a situation by the end of the year with no new ST material to release... I wonder what they're going to do to get more of my $$$$?
Seriously, what do they plan to do in 2006 and beyond? Everything (movies, shows, and possibly even the animated show) will now be released by the end of '05 in really solid editions. Doesn't seem like there's much opportunity to put anything else out.
