Glad you reconsidered FaustBos! Unfortunately, it doesn't hit the streets until the 20th, but my brother is a reviewer and got a copy early.

Don't forget that this is also going to be on the big screen in select cities as well!

Unfortunately - it's not.

For unexplained reasons, after originally stating that it would show in 10 cities, Warner has completely nixed it, with it showing at two invitation only premieres now: Tulsa and New York City on the 8th.

It sucks - I was really looking forward to it on the big screen!!

As I said before, if you liked the book, then the new footage will be fascinating. That doesn't mean it's an improvement, though. I'm VERY happy to be able to watch the "complete novel", but I still think the short version is vastly superior.

I'm going to the Tulsa premiere on Thursday night. You have to be invited and RSVP to get in. I also heard that they will be giving away some goodies after the screening as well as having Ralph Macchio and S.E. Hinton in the audience. I think that Ralph M is supposed to introduce the movie to the screening crowd. I'm looking forward to this.

I went to the screening tonight here in Tulsa and here is my experience. There were tons of limousines, a red carpet and several people from the media. S.E. Hinton was there as well as C. Thomas Howell and Ralph M. This cut of the movie was very nice and the soundtrack fit well with the added and old scenes. After the show they had a Q and A session with the available actors and S.E. Hinton. There were some good questions as well as bad ones amongst the batch. C. Thomas Howell was a very lively person and easy to get along with. Ralph M. just seemed to be there because he had to and didnt stick around after it was all over. I chatted with C. Thomas Howell in the lobby (the movie had some technical difficulties at about the midway point) and he was a nice guy. On our way out the door Warner Brothers handed each of us a gift bag with a copy of the new 2 disc set and a copy of the book. It was a nice gift considering the movie was free as well as the popcorn and soda. They also had wine and cheese paid for by Mr. Coppola. It was an awesome experience and something that probably wont happen again here in Tulsa.

With the upcoming SEs of this and Rumble Fish, it would have been pretty cool for a SE of Tex to be released. Then we could have a Matt Dillon/S.E. Hinton box set!

Is there a theatrical one-sheet poster available anywhere of the restored version?

It was an awesome experience and one I will never forget. It's nice to know that Tulsa was used to film an important movie in film history. We still go to the Admiral Twin to this day and it really isnt much different than it was 20+ years ago.

It doesnt come out until the 20th. Everyone at the screening got a copy of the 2-disc set which is really nice and has 2 good commentary tracks as well as a look a the making of the movie and a visit to the movie locations around Tulsa with S.E. Hinton.

Emilio Estevez, C. Thomas Howell and Leif Garret could probably be available in a buy 2, get 1 free deal. All 3 for $100 maybe?

or they could today pay them all scale, which is basically minimum wage in the movie buisness, but they have to let the stars do other movies if they wanted to.
