Yes! HAMMER HORROR Series from Universal!

My order just shipped out from DDD last week. I couldn't find this title in any b&m, so I went ahead and got it online. I haven't had any problems with Universal's flippers, including the monster sets and Casino. I hope the same goes for this set, as Curse of the Werewolf is easily my favorite of the group.

Well, finally got mine from DDD. I've only watched 1 movie, but it was "Curse of the Werewolf". That one is easily my favorite out of the group but I also wanted to make sure it had no playback problems, as some have suggested. Played flawlessly. I thought it looked very good as well. The print seemed to be in decent shape aside from some grainy spots during the hunting scenes. I don't like double sided discs because there's no artwork and there is a greater chance of the disc getting scratched, but getting 8 movies for $21 is a nice deal. Unfortunately, side 2 of disc 2 had a couple of smudges on them, but I wiped them off so they look clear again. Love the packaging as well.
Universal gets alot of crap on the boards, but giving us their entire Hammer catalog all at once was a nice move. They could have made much more money had they released 2 at a time. I wonder if they have enough titles for a Karloff Franchise Collection to come out Halloween '06.

My curse of the Werewolf movie from the set also was perfect, no problems here. I was disapointed in Captian Kleg though. I was expecting a better movie. My favorite of the bunch is still Brides of Dracula.

Just picked up this set this week, I've only watched BRIDES OF DRACULA so far. There was some pixelation at the very end during the main battle scene between Helsing and the Baron, but I found after cleaning my DVD (there was some minor debris) and throwing in my laser lens cleaner disc (for the heck of it) that the scene played perfectly.
I went ahead and checked out CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF at from the 43 minute mark to the 48 minute mark, no freezing or reseting the movie back to the menu. Maybe it only happens if you watch it from the beginning (?)
Hopefully when I start watching the rest of the set properly I won't encounter any unfixable problems

If they can ever get the disc issues worked out everything will be fine. I noticed in the review of the new Kolchak set the DVD-18s were made in Taiwan instead of Mexico and played back with no issues. I also have a few sets with Taiwan DVD-18s that also have no issues. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Universal has finally figured out that the Mexico plant was the culprit and will stop using them to press DVD-18s.

Sadly, someone has just posted (in the Kolchak thread) that their copy locked up during the episode The Trevi Collection .
However, it does seem that far fewer people are reporting troubles with the Kolchak discs than from those with either the Hammer or Lugosi Collections.
It's most interesting that, as you say, both of these were by the Deluxe plant in Mexico, with the Kolchaks being done in Taiwan.
