It's crazy that Criterion is releasing Harakiri on DVD when I just bought a region 3 import of the movie, with bad non-anamorphic image and poor subtitles to boot
. I've had bad luck with Criterion lately (admittedly my own fault) I bought High and Low without realizing it was non-anamorphic and now Harakiri is being released. I hope they release more early Kurosawa films like Drunken Angel, then go back an make the first few releases anamorphic ...with the option to trade in older non-anamorphic titles

I nearly fell off my chair when I stumbled across it. I am having a friend mail me a copy. I cannot wait to get it.

I just checked, and When Father Was Away on Business was released by Koch Lorber, so I may be wrong.
If they're so insistent on releasing lots of Japanese films, how about some Mizoguchi?

It's probably another 4-5 years away, but what movie do you guys think should get spine #666? Hexan would've been perfect, but that's already out. Maybe they could get the rights to The Omen.

Looks like Image has the specs on a couple of the November releases up on their site as well. Credit goes to TheDot over at Criterionforum.com.
