Are there any products other than DVDs in which the companies try to rip off and gouge the customers this much? I know books, video games, and cars all get re-released but the DVD industry has to be the worst.

RocShemp 05-03-05 07:18 AM

I must say the alternate ending was a hoot. But what can 1 minute really add? More of the all male carwash or more of the carwash across the street?

Either way, not double dipping for this one cos the first release was just fine.

animatedude 05-03-05 07:29 AM

the most unecssesary release ever.

Suffice it to say, if it can be done, leave it to a greedy and lazy company to try and make a fast buck. :(

I liked this movie and all, but I already own a copy of it. It doesn't merit a double dip to me.

In this version they will be using the really big red ball...

Personally, I enjoyed the "Triangle of Shame," and am surprised they cut that out.

I rented this to see if I wanted to buy it, and during the commentary track it's suggested that there might be another edition. That was enough to make me hold off. Although at this point I'm not sure I even want it anymore.

jdumbjokes 05-03-05 05:01 PM

The a best part of that movie was the credits anyways.

Heh. Me too. That cracked me up. It cracks me up thinking about it now. Hmm, maybe I need to watch that DVD again.

I believe it's a 60 second close-up of Justin Long's balls swelling.

Maybe this release will come with a giant inflatable Ben Stiller?

On second thought...

nightmaster 05-03-05 08:28 PM

Liked it at the theater and like the current DVD release. No dipx2 here.

Libby 05-03-05 09:40 PM

Just bought this today, absolutely no desire to double dip, Im already doing so on I, Robot and Day after tomorrow and thats good enough for me.

Where? I've been looking for a price drop on this one. Previously viewed?

mikewendt 05-04-05 11:58 AM

I just don't see a point to this.... What are they trying to tie in? The only movie on the horizon with either lead actor is Vaughn in Wedding Crashers and it comes out a month before the DVD. So I'm really at a loss on the purpose of this release.

All the extras look pretty much the same as the original and, IMO, it wasn't that good of a movie to deserve a double-dip...

dsa_shea 05-04-05 02:11 PM

They ought to have two balls on the cover for this one. One can be blue and the other purple to represent the pounding some buyer's wallets are taking for an extra minute of this movie. Should all of this shite been on the first disc.

Cornelius1047 05-22-05 02:37 AM

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but specs list the aspect ratio of this disc at 1.85:1 eventhough the original DVD (and, I assume, its theatrical presentation) was 2.35:1. What's up with that?

Ditto, stop re-re-releasing titles and get around to releasing titles for the first time.

Unless its a full minute of beautiful lesbian nudity, touching, fondeling and kissing with Christine Taylor count me out, if it is count me up -other-

Why? The other 92 minutes of the movie already do that.

And I wonder if there are existing scenes that were replaced with "unrated" ones, so that it's not just 1 extra minute. Watch- it'll just be one of the existing deleted scenes edited back in, and since the MPAA didn't review that cut scene, it's now "Unrated".

Grrrrrrr.....

wolverine1028 07-07-05 11:09 PM

I'll pass on this. I wait until the first version hits the bargain bins.

RocShemp 07-08-05 12:00 AM

I just saw a TV ad for this. The only thing different shown in the ad was the cheerleaders from the major dodgeball competion getting soaked by a shower (or sprinklers) while writhing against one another and trying to stare all sexy-like at the camera. Woulda made a nice throw-away deleted scene but doesn't inspire me to buy a whole new release of a film I already like as-is.
