Dodgeball Unrated Edition - August 2nd

Fox Home Entertainment has announced an unrated edition of comedy Dodgeball which stars Ben Stiller. The disc will be available to own from the 2nd August, priced at around $26.98. The film will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Extras will include a new joke commentary by writer/director Rawson Marshall Thurber and Actors Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, a second 'easteregg' audio commentary with the same guys, and a third 'easteregg' commentary by Rawson Marshall Thurber on his own. Other features include deleted and extended scenes with optional commentary, an alternate ending with optional commentary, bloopers, a Justin Long: A Study in Ham & Cheese featurette, a Dodgeball Boot Camp: Training for the Dodgeball featurette, and another featurette entitled The Anatomy of a Hit. Completing the package will be a comedy montage, a Dodgeball: Go for the Gold feature, More with the Dodgeball Dancers (with video introduction by Writer/Director Rawson Marshall Thurber), theatrical trailer A, theatrical trailer B, trailers for The Ringer and Arrested Development, and the screenplay (DVD-ROM).

Could the studios be any more greedy? I love this movie, but one extra minute of footage is not worth a double dip.

at this point what is the box office total that a fox movie must make to merit a double dip?

I just got the current one for $5, and I don't see any reason to upgrade

I wonder if that extra minute will make the movie funny?

It might. However, it will certainly make Fox laugh their guts out everytime they see a sale register on their computers.

How is it an "easter egg" when you put it in the announcement?

What you're all forgetting though is that its an UNRATED minute. That means sixty full seconds of coitus, f-words, penises, headbutts (UK Only), gore, tits, sodomy, bile, and vaginas.

It's only a matter of time till some studio boasts that their unrated director's cut has a whole 30 seconds of deleted footage added. Thanks, but I'll pass on this one. There are way too many catalog titles in dire need of simply an anamorphic enhancement.

What took so long?

Day After Tomorrow
Man on Fire
I Robot

This looks like Fox Home Entertainment's new business model.
I can see it now: in time for Christmas.
Sideways
Electra

Anyway, I learned after ‘Day After Tomorrow’ to wait.

Glad I didn't buy dodgeball yet, although I wasn't waiting for this... I just missed the opening week price and didn't want to pay full price. I never expected a second release of this movie.

Supposedly an ultra extended edition is also in the works. That one will run 94 minutes.

....so I'm gonna hold off.

I love the film but the current version is enough. Moreso for the fine image on the spine that i dare never part with.

Is that the Extreme edition that comes in a metal case or is that the next one?

Loved the movie, but no way I'm double dipping for it. Even if it was 20 minutes more of footage and other features, I'm happy with what I have and don't feel there would be anything new that would warrant the dip for me.

I'm hoping for more male-on-male action.

I think I'll pass on this one. The only reason to upgrade would be for the new extra features.

I'll buy it only if they restore the original ending back into the movie. It had me laughing out loud. The best part of the entire damn movie.
