I never said I wasn't going to watch the unrated version but I often like to start with the theatrical cut to see the movie as it was first presented. After that I have no issues with watching the unrated/extended version. It seems like I'll HAVE to view the extended cut each time I re-watch the movie to make it play smoother.

as for my player model I was too tired to remember to post it earlier. It's a Sony DVP-NC675P. This is a player I just picked up recently to replace my other 5 DVD changer but from the DVDs I've watched on it so far I haven't had huge issues with layer changes. I have yet to check it on my other players.

I just finished watching the "Unrated" version and there were no hiccups or layer changes that caught my attention like those on the regular rated version.

Since the Unrated version also contains the R-rated version, then what is the purpose of releasing just the R-rated version separately by itself?

There really isn't much reason. When I went to Wal-Mart to buy the DVD at midnight I really didn't expect them to have the Unrated version since Wal-Mart is goofy about carrying some unrated films. Turns out it was the only version they had which I thought was really really odd.

Well, if I'm not mistaken, the regular R-rated version has both the WS and the FS version of the film on the same disc. Or am I thinking of a different disc here recently?

I watched the unrated version tonight and thought it looked super. Haven't checked out the theatrical cut.

I watched the extended version on a Toshiba and it stalled on me in 3 different parts. After the second time I tried to take the disc out to see if it was dirty and my player's draw would even open all the way.

I got the Theatrical version to avoid any problems. The Unrated version is only 10 minutes longer anyway.

Thank goodness you asked for some clarification bause as soon as I read his response I was ready to ask as well. I would of thought that the problem was only in the theatrical cut but now that Chip718 had issues with that cut I'm not sure what to think.

I was thinking it was probably just the theatrical version as well, but apparently there are issues with both.I guess i will find out for myself when i eventually get around to watching it.

so far I've tried out the theatrical version on a Philips 727, Philips 642, and a Bose DVD player, and they all have had hiccups on the theatrical cut.

there are a bunch of times where it is choppy, but I have been testing one particular scene on all my players.

the Chapter change/transition from 19/20, has a hiccup. I believe the last scene in Chapter 19 is Blade and Abigail riding off on their motorcycles, scene after that is Chapter 20 with Hannibal getting punched by one of the vampires.

Actually, it is the wrong place. Maybe you didn't notice the thread title, but this is concerning the not-so-seamless branching on the DVD. It has nothing to with the film itself. So if you've got nothing to add to the actual topic at hand, pipe down.

Does the hiccup you mention happen at the end of the scene with Blade and Abigail? I encountered a problem in the middle of the scene where they are getting ready for their rescue mission but don't recall one between their scene and the next one with Hannibal.

As for the rest of the hiccups I'll have to re-watch the film later and mark them down.

Cool, thanks. I'll be on the lookout for it when I watch it.

Yeah i did say "I guess it was the wrong place" i'm not disagreeing. What the hell is your problem anyway man, so i make a few grammar errors on the otter board, make myself like a fool, and you seem to have the obligation of following me board to board and harass me? Don't you have anything better to do? Oh, and please don't deny it, if anybody else make a similar comment you wouldn't have said anything at all, so if you have nothing to add to the actual topic but harass me, then pipe down.

I think I've responded to one other post from you besides this. Don't flatter yourself into thinking I'm following you around. Yeah, your spelling and lack of understanding of basic grammar is really something to behold, but it's not so marvelous that I'm going to follow you around. I would've said what I said to anyone else if they had come in here and posted what you did. You had zero to offer to the discussion and don't act like you weren't treadcrapping. Your response was completely sarcastic. Now let the thread get back on topic, unless you'd like to suggest that everyone who's unhappy with their Blade DVD go back to the store and throw it down in the aisle since you've suggested before that's one thing to do to DVDs.

Boy, this thread makes me want to test this DVD on my player just to see if it can handle it. Could be a good DVD to keep just for that.

All of this talk about skipping sort of like a layer change reminds me of the Chronicles of Riddick Director's Cut. It skips and stutters in quite a few places where they've put in new footage.

My Philips 642 played the Extended Cut flawlessly. Haven't given the Theatrical Cut a shot.
