One of my girlfriend's favorite movies ever. She will be happy. I'm not a fan though.

How do you know this to be true? I haven't read this anywhere. You'd think if it were true they would have announced it, as July is less than 3 months away...

Thank god! With any luck they'll include the theatrical release as a viewing option as well as the version with cut scenes that were aired on network broadcasts (extra songs, etc.) added back in.

I suppose it's hoping for too much, but I'd love to see special features that include participation from Johnny Depp, too.

OK, well, I hope it's true! I'm not a big fan but my wife is, so hopefully I can surprise her. She doesn't check on these things, that's my dept. I hope this isn't too good to be true!

According to remarks made by Water's in a post I made around December, these were exactly the two things he was waiting on prior to releasing it. However, there was no definitive word as to whether or not it would offered via branching, or just be released as an extended cut. I suppose, we'll just have to wait until the specs are released to find out.

Me too! I have a stack of VHS titles that I'm waiting to sell for a few dollars once I have the DVD in my hand.

I'm waiting til I have it in my hands before I get too excited. We've been burned on this several times before.

Thanks for the info! For once I'm really glad people agree with me (usually I don't really care, but in this type of situation the more people who want it the better the chances of getting it, esp. if the director is one of those people ). I'll keep my fingers crossed that they give us a choice - either by seamless branching or with a second disc. I just hope they do give us a choice, unlike Pretty Woman which has no theatrical release option (although with PW I hated the b-roll footage they included, while I do like the cry-baby extra footage).

I am so there. I've been waiting for this for several years, and it was almost in my grubby hands last summer... But alas.
