I totally agree...

If you want to change the movie, have TWO releases, but don't just released the chopped up version. I for one actually think the subplot in question added to the movie.

Nice to see that it finally has a date.

If the movie is as bad as it it supposed to be, I am all for cuts, adds, changes, etc. More directors should man up when they create a bomb and try to make adjustments to create a better movie for the public (especially since dvd's can be taken advantage to do so). I am glad to know Stone's ego is not as big as I thought it was.

Since the film got such mediocre reviews I decided to wait and just rent the DVD.

Now, since Stone has decided to take out the whole gay side of the main character, it's not even worth the rental.

That, and he can bite me.

It looks like the theatrical cut will also be available. I know it's the one I'm planning to get.

The R3 edition has only the theatrical cut of the film and no commentary. It does have DTS, however, which the R1 disc will not.

How do we know he will be cutting out any gay subtext?

He never mentioned that in the interviews I've seen where he comments on how the directors cut will be edited. Basically scenes will be rearranged,some scenes will be add,some taken out/trimmed down and basically it should flow much better(in his opinion).


Either way both versions will be released in the U.S. which is a good thing. So it's pointless to bother with the other region releases.

...and I'd love comparisions between the two versions once released. Then we shall see if he really cut out the gay subtext which may have just been quotes taken out of context in the first place.

Good point. I really do not care what he takes out, as long as what he does it is an effort to make a horrible movie into a watchable one. I just hope he has enough material to accomplish this. I have no interest in watching the theatrical version so I hope he can come up with a decent new cut. It will definitely be interesting to see the differences between the final two cuts.

I have'nt like Stones post-Natural Born Killers films anyway and it is a shame he appears to be giving in to pressure.

At the very least,the theatrical cut will be made availabl. So Warner got that right. Since I hate it when studios only release the 'alternate' cut,since sometimes the 'alternate' cuts are not an 'improvement'.

Eegads I hope the theatrical art looks a little better, since that's the one I'll most likely buy. If they made a three disc set with both versions I'd get that, but all well...

Judging by the little "sticker" thing saying that it's "Newly inspired, faster paced and more action-packed", it sounds like there's going to be two entirely different edits of the film.

I'll be picking up The Director's Cut.

If that holds true, I will rent the directors cut.
