More Rosario Dawson would be a good thing... :hump:
|
I might be one of the few, but I still want to see this movie. I figured that since it bombed, it'd be out on DVD in March or April at the latest. I never would have figured I'd be stuck waiting til August.

They're probably hoping that by waiting several months, a lot of people won't remember what a dismal reaction this received theatrically. |
Never saw this in theaters, so I'll be curious as to how the DVD turns out.
|
Wow, August is a long time away for this release.....
|
Hoping this will be the Queer Eye for the Macedonian Guy Edition.

if you want to read up on what the edits are all about, and see a thread get locked because people like to call names. |
Was the movie that bad? Well since this movie has become infamous, I am now curious to see what they will do with the dvd.

You better check your facts straight, OR whatever source you are using to make such a statement. Alexander was anything but Greek. In fact, for a very long time the Greek Orthodox church, and every single Greek government conservative or socialist, have been trying to claim that Macedonia is de facto Greek territory. If anything Macedonia is much more closely related to Bulgaria than Greece. Furthermore, nowadays Greece is one of the few countries in the region (politically backed up by the US) that still does not recognize Macedonia as an independent country and intentionally refers to it as the "former Yugoslavian republic". With this said Oliver Stone's look at the history of Alexander Makedonski is rather accurate. Regards, Pro-B |
Its the only movie Ive every really wanted to walk out of.

More Rosario Dawson would be a good thing... That will be the only reason I will pick this up. |
Well, here's some news, courtesy of Patrick Mirza and David DVD:
The R1: Here's a peek at Warner Home Video's upcoming two-disc release of Alexander: Director's Cut. The special edition release is being billed as the "breathtaking new cut of Oliver Stone's sweeping epic film." Click on the thumbnail for a better look. One thing's for sure, the only way to get the theatrical cut would seem to be one of the many non-region 1 editions (see the Regional Spy section for more). Stay tuned for complete disc specs soon. And Elsewhere: Warner Home Video Germany has announced Alexander for release on May 26th. The Oliver Stone-directed film will be available in both a standard single-disc edition, as well as a two-disc premium edition. Each comes with a 2.35 anamorphic transfer, English & German Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS Surround tracks. Extras on the two-disc set include an audio commentary with Stone, "Fight Against Time: Olive Stone's Alexander" documentary, "The Making of Alexander" featurette, cast interviews, trailers and TV spots. Although unconfirmed, all signs point to these discs featuring the theatrical cut of the film. Over in Italy, the film will be available on May 17th with an anamorphic transfer of the theatrical cut, Italian and English Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. Extras on this two-disc set include commentary with Stone and Alexander biographer and Oxford University Professor Robin Lane Fox, "From the Story To the Movie," "The Work of the Actors" and behind-the-scenes featurettes, trailers and DVD-ROM weblinks. In Denmark, the film is actually now available again in both single and two-disc editions. Each comes with a 2.35 anamorphic transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS Surround tracks. Extras on the two-disc include the "Fight Against time: Olive Stone's Alexander" documentary, "The Making of Alexander" featurette, cast interviews and trailers. No commentary however for the Danes. The UK gets single and two-disc editions on July 4th. Most interesting is a three-disc set due in Region 3 Hong Kong on May 5th. This set comes with an anamorphic transfer, English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS Surround tracks, the "Fight Against Time" documentary, international featurettes, cast interviews, B-roll footage, sound bites and trailers. What the third disc includes is still a bit fuzzy, but interestingly the run time for the film is listed as 275 minutes. Whether this is a typo, or it means this is some super-extended edition is as-of-yet unknown. Covers for all can be seen by clicking the above thumbnail. My hope is that, even though it bombed, the WB does a 3-disc instead with both version, DTS, and all those features. |
Actually, THIS is how it should be done (and yes, it is compiled of all the features on the internation versions):
Disc 1 – The Theatrical Edition: 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen English/French Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS 5.1 Audio Commentary by Writer/Director Oliver Stone Audio Commentary by Oliver Stone and Alexander Biographer/Oxford University Professor Robin Lane Fox DVD-ROM Features Disc 2 – The Director’s Cut: 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen English/French Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS 5.1 Audio Commentary by Oliver Stone DVD-ROM Features Disc 3 – Bonus Features: Fight Against Time Documentary Featurettes - The Making of Alexander - From the Story To the Movie - The Work of the Actors - Behind the Scenes - International Featurettes Cast Interviews B-Roll Footage Theatrical Teaser Theatrical Trailer International Trailers TV Spots Oh, and the cover should be like the UK one. |
won't buy it unless the original cut is on it....skipped it once....i'll skip it twice
|
Insert cricket noises over here.......you know what, id pick this up with a movie gallery deal
|
Hopefully the director's cut has added scenes instead of cutting them...other than that, looking forward to trying this out in my (hopefully by then) new place and new sound system. :)

If this is edited, not only will I not buy the dvd, but I will lose much respect for Oliver Stone and Warner Brothers.
|
That sucks, I already have the Region 3 limited set on order, but I'm interested in this directors cut to see what it's all about.
