Throw Mama from a Train and Weekend at Bernies Anamorphic

also from the bits

By the way, in response to reader questions about recently announced MGM titles, the new DVD release of Throw Momma from a Train (due on 5/31) will feature a new anamorphic widescreen transfer. Also, Weekend at Bernie's (due 7/12) will include both anamorphic widescreen and full frame video. Both carry an SRP of $14.95.

Holy smokes! I'm probably one of the few people on earth wanting both of these. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, I can understand TMFTT having a bigger fanbase but "Bernies" getting a new transfer makes me happy. I wonder if they'll do the same for the sequel?

Isn't the sequel widescreen though? Good news about Weekend's at Bernie's!

Does TMFTT even need a new transfer? The current one is anamorphic.

Sweet! Never thought I'd double dip on Weekend at Bernies, but the last release quality is up there with the first release of Highlander. Ok maybe not that bad, but close.

Anyone else irritated that The Digital Bits, in multiple posts, continues to call the film THROW MOMMA FROM A TRAIN when it's THROW MOMMA FROM THE TRAIN? Sometimes, it's the little things that make you go grrr...

Throw Momma From The Train - Is It Coming 5/31?

I've looked everywhere, but can't seem to find any information on the supposedly anamorphically enhanced release of Throw Momma From The Train due out on 5/31. None of the etailers have it listed for sale. Does anybody have information as to whether this title is indeed to be re-released?

According to my distributor, it is being re-released May 31... Probably the same DVD - nothing different content wise (still have to confirm).

Actually, I was well aware of that thread, but that is THE only information I have seen on Throw Momma From The Train. As of now, there is no listing of it anywhere as far as etailers goes. This release is only three weeks away, but usually you can at least preorder it. I sense this release will be launched with very little promotion if at all. Normally, I trade or sell my previous dvd copies well in advance of a new release unless I am unsure if it is worth it or not. I guess I'll have to wait until we are closer to release date.

But the announcement stated it would be anamorphic, but nothing is out there yet.

Best Prices lists it as due 5/31/05 as "THROW MOMMA FROM THE TRAIN (DVD/WS-16X9/1987/HI-DEF TRANSFER)"

Barnes & Noble lists it for the same day as "remastered/repackaged".

This is up for sale at Amazon now, labeled as Remastered/Repackaged. Sadly, I'm doubting there will be any reviews for this. Will we ever know just how "remastered" it truly is?

Just got this from the 7.50 stand at Walmart. Indeed a new and nicer transfer. Better sharpness and color.

This is the new cover:
