I ordered the last remaining copy of this from Amazon yesterday thanks to your news. Thanks for biting the bullet and getting the disc.
But really, am I alone in thinking that this is such a strange move by MGM? I mean, a new transfer costs money, does it not? And they released this disc without any semblance of fanfare or promotion. And despite the good results, this movie wasn't exactly screaming for a re-release, not to mention the fact that it has all of the same features. So what's the deal?

Received mine from Amazon, and bunkaroo is absolutely right: this is a surprisingly nice transfer. Still a very odd decision from MGM, but welcomed all the same.
