LOTR shouldn't count as a double-dip, people.

So far only one for me:

double-dip (for the purposes of this thread) simply means that a person purchased a title more than once.... and not necessarily a deceptive practice by a studio to maximize sales.

I bought the original Tomorrow Never Dies, then upgraded to the SE, then bought the box set, so that's a triple-dip. And if MGM/UA re-releases their Bond titles with remastering and so forth, that could be a potential quadruple-dip.

Mulan
Peter Pan
Mary Poppins
Notting Hill
The Princess Bride
Heathers
Scooby Doo - original mysteries (came out with season set)
Batman TAS (came out with season set)

coming soon:
Pocahontas

Some because they "tricked" me, and some that I knew were eventually coming out with better versions but I didn't want to wait (The Princess Bride and Pocahontas). Notting Hill - there was no good reason for me to upgrade, and I learned my lesson. I have to really want the extra content/improved picture to upgrade. I'm still planning on upgrading Alice in Wonderland - the video on the two disc set is MUCH improved over the gold edition I currently own.

i've been pretty good about double-dipping

I did a double on the Matrix Movies
bought them individually and then got the 10-DVD set with the statue

I did another double on Lord of the Rings
bought them individually and then got the gift set with the statue and extended versions

and that's about it

When I saw the SE for $10 I bought it and gave the old one to my mom. She was pretty psyched.

God, I don't even want to think about it. Several.

A worse thread to think about would be how many movies did I buy and never get around to watching at all and then finally trading them. I shudder to think how much money I have wasted on unwatched (or just watched once) dvds since I bought my first player back in '99.

I usually have a good eye for getting the best possible edition the first time around, but even I have to admit I end up double-dipping every once in awhile.

Memento -> Limited Edition
The Patriot -> Superbit Deluxe
Speed -> Five-Star

...and I plan on making a few more double-dips before everything's said and done.
