What happened to Panic in the Year Zero, etc?

Weren't those only-available-at-BB Midnight Movies of Panic in the Year Zero/Last Man on Earth, Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake, etc, supposed to be out right about now? Anybody know what's up?

That's what I thought too -- but they're not even listed on Best Buy's website...

Amazon will be selling the next batch of MGM Midnight Movies? They'll no longer be exclusive to Best Buy?

Midnite Movies Mess!
We have been getting a flood of e-mails asking what’s going on with the March 22 MGM Midnite Movies releases. Well, we’re in the dark like everybody else and couldn’t get any concrete information. All we know is that the titles were released on March 22, but for some reason are only available for sale in Canada, not at U.S. Best Buy stores, or anywhere else in the U.S. for that matter. Three of the double features (FIREBALL 500/THUNDER ALLEY, THE MINI-SKIRT MOB/CHROME AND HOT LEATHER and MORONS FROM OUTER SPACE/ALIEN FROM L.A.), will be available everywhere on June 7, but there is no sign that the others (including PANIC IN YEAR ZERO!/THE LAST MAN ON EARTH and VOODOO ISLAND/THE FOUR SKULLS OF JONATHAN DRAKE) will be available for sale in the U.S. any time soon. We purchased our review copies from the Canadian site, DVD Soon. Our only suggestion is to order them from a Canadian retailer like DVD Soon, Amazon Canada, DVD Plus and others. This is turning out to be a real headache for the many fans of this series, but they are out there for sale, even if it is only in Canada. Let’s all hope for better things for the Midnite Movies series in future and that releases continue at some point.

Well, that explains why Panic/Last Man is the number 1 selling disc at DVDSoon.

I am very excited about the release of Panic/Last Man. I enjoy apocalyptic fare such as this. I really want this disc - is DVDsoon reliable??

I want these really, really bad...but I have enough dvds coming in from various sources as it is. I'll wait until they hit our shelves...which they will do.

I wonder if this could have something to do with Sony's takeover Mgm. Maybe a higher msrp?

DVDSavant notes that this has been recalled. I haven't seen any other reports besides his.

People are scrambling to find leftover copies of MGM's recalled double bill of Panic in Year Zero / Last Man on Earth, which may soon be fetching astro-inimic, aztroh, apspa ... very high prices on Ebay. I think a friend will be getting a copy imminently, so I'll at least be able to see it!

I finally received a shipping notice from DVDSoon on four of the last batch of Midnite Movies (Panic in Year Zero/The Last Man on Earth ; Die, Monster, Die!/Dunwich Horror; Tales of Terror/Twice-Told Tales ; War-Gods of the Deep/At the Earth's Core). I had ordered them just before the news of the recall came out. They were backordered then, and I expected I'd never see them. However, apparently DVDSoon got hold of some stock from somewhere... for which I'm quite thankful!

I just hope that the whole Midnite Movie idea is kept up, now that MGM is gone.

These releases have not been recalled in Canada - several Canadian e-tailers have gone through numerous runs of stock, and they keep getting more shipments in. I got mine from cdplus.com.

Just received my "Last Man on Earth" and did some comparison viewing.

I first put on my Madacy DVD double feature of "LMOE" (fullframe) and "House on Haunted Hill." Can you imagine what it looked like!

Next I put on the Madacy DVD non-anamorphic widescreen of "LMOE." Still looked like crud.

Then MGM's anamorphic version...wow, what a viewing treat. It looked great!!! This is what we wished all the widescreen anamorphic b&w's should look like!

My wife and I had such a fun time watching this great flick that we decided to make it a double feature night and watch the LD of Richard Matheson's "The Incredible Shrinking Man," another great sci fi movie!

It's fun to have a b&w viewing night to really enjoy some of the screens sci fi classics!!!

I just got all 8. Received a shipping notice Thursday, got the package the very next day! I ordered them 6 weeks ago and was close to cancelling.

Funny thing is, I didn't pay for overnight shipping. I chose the standard. SO either they screwed up, or paid for the shipping themselves since the order took so long. Either explanation is fine by me.

Surprised a lot of people are looking for these.
Stores in my area have tons of copies.

I got a couple of those midnite movies for a trader here.
Anyone wants them, let me know, as I have easy access to them.

Considering you're in Canada, that makes sense.
