Other Ed Wood movies/shorts?
I am starting work on a pretty big research paper for a film class that's due in about 2 months, and I'm doing it on Ed Wood, a kind of focus on the marketing of the films, as well as analysis on what made the films so unsucessful upon initial release, but cult classics only several years later. I have the 6-disc box set being shipped to me any day, but I was curious if anyone knew any info about any of his other films that are not on VHS/DVD
The Sinister Urge - 1961
Take it out in Trade - 1970
Excited - 1970
Necromania - 1971
Or if anyone knew of any way to get a hold of any of his shorts
Trick Shooting with Kenne Duncan - 1953
Boots - 1953
The Night the Banshee Cried - 1957
Final Curtain - 1957
I'm sure the book "Nightmare in Ecstasy" touches up on them a bit, but that too is on order, and as much as it may say, it isn't the same as seeing it. I also picked up a few of his pulp novels on eBay, but I'm hoping my paper will really stand out if I can draw some insight on some of these lesser seen films. Thanks-

Necromania was recently released on DVD by Fleshbot Films. Just Google it. I also recommend the DVD biography "The Haunted World of Edward D. Wood Jr." available at Amazon. It includes Ed's very first film "The Crossroads of Laredo" (all 22 minutes of it).

Thanks I'll check into Necromania, it's almost $30 shipped so I'm not sure I'm going to throw down that much for some help on a paper, but yes that Haunted World DVD is part of the box that I ordered.

DVD Talk Special Edition
The Sinister Urge was shown on Mystery Science Theater 3000 some years ago.
It's exploitation cinema at its most inept
not a very good film at all but certainly funny when shown on MST3K to jeer at.
Still one of my favorite episodes to watch although I'm not sure you'd be able to concentrate on seriously watching the film for a research project if you were watching the MST3K version
Alas I'm not aware of this film on dvd or any rumor of this film coming to dvd anytime soon.

Yes, THE SINISTER URGE and TAKE IT OUT IN TRADE were released on VHS.
You might also want to check out the 1998 film I WOKE UP EARLY THE DAY I DIED, which was based on Wood's last film script. It remains unreleased in the US, but does have a DVD release in Japan:

I do strongly recommend reading "Nightmare of Ecstasy". Along with interviews with many people that worked with and knew Wood, it also has an extensive filmography and bibliography. Very good info there.
EDIT: the TAKE IT OUT IN TRADE VHS I was thinking about is not the entire film, but outakes. I'm not sure if the entire film was ever found, but Something Weird sells this:
