pat benatar live at new haven (pat in her prime, looking/sounding great/excellent songlist)
the who kids are alright (comprehensive look at the who's history, saw it when it was originally in theatres, still blows me away. love the studio footage of who are you, fantastic set)

I have Led Zeppelin 2 DVDs set which I enjoy, also have Judas Priest Electric Eye which I don't care for although i'm a fan, I wasn't impressed with the concert from Texas that is on there, loved the two early videos though of Rocka Rolla and Dreamer Deciever they were excellent and the only reason why I still have the DVD today. I would like to get Iron Maiden the early years and also the old California Jam of the late seventies which would be great and last but not least something from Deep Purple from the 70's-80's

i really liked the pearl jam live from msg concert more from a technical aspect then anything. its the one concert dvd thats not cutting every other second to make people nausious, so we actually get to the full guitar solos without all of the fast cutting that i can't stand

In my opinion music videos and concerts are kind of an unknown treasure trove to the masses.....there are SO many INCREDIBLE shows by hundreds of great artists and bands on DVD, and with a good home theater it's the closest thing one could get to being at a show....only you don't have to spend $50 (and much more) to be in the audience- hours of entertainment for great prices.....hopefully the Live Aid box set opened up some eyes to buying concerts on DVD. Tons of titles already in this thread I would have mentioned; some of them I need to check out . Sorry if I add anything that's already been listed. I think it's supposed to be part of the next "Early Years" part II release.

Some of my favorites are:

ELO-Zoom; The best from the master of melody.

John Fogerty-Premonition; If this one does not get your air guitar moving your heart may have stopped.

Queen-We Will Rock You (later version in dts); Very clean sound and crisp picture.

DooWop 5-PBS concert of original hit makers; To see some of these guys perform those hits live and sounding just as good or better than they did in the 50's is wonderful.

Cheap Trick-Live in Australia; Not great but only Cheap Trick concert on DVD that I know of.

Paul Simon-Your the One; Perfection, great percussion, great tunes, great guitar work, Paul still sounds good after all these years.

Down from the Mountain; Must have dvd, great performances, great artist, a look at the birth of many forms of music.

The Monkees-Live Summer Tour; I saw them live on this tour and although this dvd is not the best it does have a concert feel to it.

Fleetwood Mac-The Dance; To see Nicks and company play out years of realationships on stage is revealing and intimate.

Eagles-Hell Freezes Over; What a band, still!

The Moody Blues-Hall of Fame; One of the better Moody Blues concerts.

Carol King-Concert; Neat concert and fun to watch her and Slash work it out.

Roy Orbison-Black and White Night; Memories from the master.

Backstage Pass-Concert Collection Vol 1; Some keepers by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimme Vaughan, and many more.

In regards to music videos, I have Thalia. I'm thinking in purchasing the Shakira: Unplugged DVD.

I would recommend it. My only complaints are that the picture was full screen and the songs are basically live audio edited in with different video shots from different cities.

almost forgot to mention live aid! a must have and probably the most important and significant concert ever. some really great and heartfelt performances in there by a vast array of performers.

We're on page 2, and the virtually undisputed greatest concert DVD ever shot has not been mentioned.

Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense

Directed by Jonathan Demme...yeah, the Silence of the Lambs guy. Talking heads aren't even one of my favorite bands, but this concert was simply brilliant.

The sad thing is, the Bee Gees don't play 'Emotion' on any of those performances.

There are 3 other CT concert dvd's that are out there -

Silver - Recorded in 1999 in Rockford, ILL for their 25th Anniversary. IMHO their best one because it features 29 songs spanning their career, as well as special guests (Slash, Billy Corgan, Art from Everclear).

Music for Hangovers - Recorded in 1998; 14 songs during their 4-night "album show" stand at the Metro in Chicago. It's not bad, and the commentary is funny because they seem to be stoned.

From Tokyo To You - Recorded in Japan in 2003. Okay, but it doesn't feature the full songs - just clips, mixed in with mock interviews.

I love my Monterey Pop: Criterion set.

Dream Theater - Metropolis 2000 is fantastic, aside from the annoying Winamp-style effects. I love the commentary, though. "And now [John's] in nineteen sixtyfour" "he's not talking about the year..."*

Nine Inch Nails - And All That Could Have Been DTS is also a fantastic set, though they should have filmed it in 16x9. Oh well. Next time.

Rush - Rush in Rio is probably the best concert DVD I own, even though it's non-anamorphic (which is a big negative). This (with NIN as a close second) is the loudest DVD I've heard as well. I have to turn the volume down by about 10db just to have it at a level that sounds slightly higher than what I normally watch DVDs at.
