But yeah, the SE should have been a one-sided, dual layer, high quality version.

I heartily agree. This should have been movie only on one DVD-9 with a seccond disc dedicated to features. Paying $29.99 for a SE, this should be among the minimum requirements. Why is this so difficult for the studios to grasp?

It seems that FOX likes to put Widescreen and Fullscreen versions on different sides becuase they think people would go nuts and not be able to make a choice for themselves when either option pops up. To protect themselves from recieving millions of letters of protest, they place each version on either side so that people can just plop the disc in and whatever side they land on is what they'll watch. To FOX, people would rather be "surprised" with the framing.
Thats the only logical explaination I could come up with (i.e. there are none

Keep in mind that you should be looking at the side opposite of where the "Widescreen" or "Full Screen" label appears.

I Heart Huckabees is definitely single layer. Pretty good transfer though and no glitches here

As someone already said, it's hard to see the point of including the full-screen version in the SE at all though. Who would care enough about the movie to get the extras in the SE and not want to see it in widescreen?!
I flipped over to the full screen version briefly as it looked like a noticeable drop in picture quality too!

Woah, please tell me the bonus features disc is dual layered? If not I just might avoid buying this alltogether.

Talk about getting their priorities right.
"OK, they can only have one dual layer disk in this pack. Shall we make the movie dual layer or the bonus features?"
"Gotta be the bonus features disc, man. Who watches the movie?"

hhaha, yeh I'd much rather have both dual layered but I was curious about the bonus features because if they would just cram all that stuff on to on single layered disc i would just pass and not buy the set at all, wasting space and avoiding a better transfer then just compressing bonus features that they're charging $29.99 for is a no go with me.

OK, just got my third copy of this and this one works!!
I did notice some differences.
On the bad copies, the movie disc was in the first slot and the extras in the second.
On my good copy, the movie disc was in the second slot and the extras in the first.
Now, here's the really weird difference:
On the bad copies, the side with the ring that has the title and tells which side is which was the fullscreen version and the other side was the widescreen version.
On my good copy they are reversed (the orange ring gave correct indications of which side was which on all copies)!
I don't have my bad copies anymore to verify this, but I'm sure of it. Before I had to put the movie in orange ring up to watch it, and now I have to put it in orange ring down.

I also put mine back in the case with the orange ring down, to protect the widescreen side.
Sorry to ruin your theory, but mine played okay and it had the movie in the the plastic flap holder and the extras in the case holder.

FWIW, my "non-glitch" copy had the movie disc in the "case" and the extras disc in the "flap". And the side withe the orange ring has the wide-screen version (IOW, orange-ring side down, to play widescreen version).

wow FOX really likes to change things up. Half of you say the extras are in the flap, half say they are resting in the case. Half of you say the orange ring up is widescreen, half of you say the orange ring down is widescreen. Its like FOX let an ADD riddled class package the discs or soemthing

Mine's got the glitch. Happens around 93:38 ~ 40, orange ring side up. It was packaged in the case, and the extras in the plastic flap. Orange-ring gave the right indication of widescreen. Using a Pioneer DV-250.

Super Wal-Mart didn't even have em.
