Amazon.ca indicates that it has the movie on stock but even then is a 5 to 7 week shipping. I don't know why is so hard to find this movie in Canada.

Went to my walmart during lunch yesterday and found it for $9 + change. I had forgotten that it was coming out...

fliggil 08-23-06 08:34 AM

Couldn't find a copy locally, just gave up after 4 different chains and ordered one of DDD. Frusturating, but it will be worth it.

Harold Wazzu 08-23-06 10:02 PM

I just watched my copy, and even though I only have a 27" TV in 16:9 squeeze mode, I think it looked pretty good and the audio is more than adequate. I'm happy this finally got a dvd release.

Can't wait for this one, only have seen chunks of it on cable here and there...will be nice to sit down for a whole viewing.

DiedLaughing 08-24-06 10:36 AM

I picked this up at Walmart at midnight last night... the store where I work hasn't gotten it in stock yet due to an assumed release date mix up.

fleegs 08-24-06 12:34 PM

Also picked it up from Walmart. I forgot it was coming out and ran across it today.

Breakfast with Girls 08-24-06 03:05 PM

Also picked it up from Wal-Mart.

freshticles 08-24-06 04:14 PM

BAH to all of you...

Big Dave 08-24-06 04:53 PM

Got mine at Wal-Mart as well, will watch it tonight. Makes me feel old to realize that the movie is 17 (!!!) years old.

Cameron 08-24-06 05:01 PM

how much at wal mart?

DeanoBKN 08-24-06 06:12 PM

I checked my job (Coconuts), Circuit City, Best Buy, Tower Records, and Target...none of which had it in stock. I guess WalMart will be my last resort before ordering it online.

Cameron 08-25-06 12:07 AM

got it at wal mart as well....

noticed something funny...Tobey Maguire at Video Armageddon. Right after they choose the three kids for the finals. They walk outside and Lucas points the gang out...all the way to the left, the kid with the mullet and pink shirt.

he isn't credited...but imdb puts him as "Lucas' goon at video armageddon"

someone screencap this

Puzznic 08-25-06 02:33 AM

I was pretty impressed with the video on this. Maybe I am just used to my washed out VHS copy of this but I can't imagine the DVD looking much better than it does. The rest of the DVD is pretty sparse (not even a scene selection) but I'm not complaining.

JP5683 08-25-06 03:26 AM

Ordered it from DDD assuming it would be hard to find, hasn't come in yet though, I ordered it like 2 weeks ago.

Looking forward to upgrading from my VHS and bootleg dvd...

Lastdaysofrain 08-25-06 07:53 AM

Mine shipped from DDD at the start of the week. I should have it soon.

I noticed one of the kids looked familiar, did not place it as Maguire at the time.

After watching it last night is stands up pretty decent and like others have said, the picture looked better then I might have expected.

dpz301 08-25-06 03:27 PM

walmart didnt have it, guess i am going on DDD to get it. woohoo.

I agree.

It's about $9.50 at Wal-Mart, by the way.

Now I have Flight of the Navigator, The Last Starfighter, and The Wizard (and, I'm sure, a few others that don't come to mind). Any other quintessential '80s family-friendly movies I'm missing?

I was thinking about picking up Batteries not Included the other day. Does that really qualify or is it more like Cocoon with the old people and whatnot?

But add War Games to the list.

JP5683 08-26-06 04:45 AM

I got it Friday morning... Off the weekend... wheeeee.
