Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am suprised that it is going to be widescreen too so that is a plus! Can't wait to get it!
Definitely glad to see this is coming out finally. SO RAD! Sometimes I honestly wish it was 1989 again.
Wow I remember seeing this movie as a kid in theatres and seeing Super Mario Bros. 3 for the first time. What a great movie experience for a kid. Looking back it was such a blatant cross-promotion for the upcoming videogame, but damn did it work. I wanted that game pretty bad.
Would love to watch this again and see how bad I think it is 17 years later (17 YEARS, Jesus Christ). |
Definate pick-up for me, don't care how bad it might be nowadays.
Well, just need another release of Gleaming The Cube and the debut of RAD & Student Bodies!
I am all over this. Now if they would just release The Maxx then i can retire my VHS movies to the closet forever.
It's refreshing to see the anamorphic widescreen. At least they realize that just because a movie was for kids 20 years ago doesn't mean that's going to be the case in the present. That seems to go over the heads of most of studio execs. |
Hi-res artwork is here.
Yes! first the Star Wars unaltered trilogy now The Wizard, these were the last 2 big ones on my unreleased list.

Can't think of how many times I listed this on "movies you fear may never get put on DVD" lists over the years, glad to see this is finally coming, I need the glove, it's so bad.
I'm extremely happy to hear that this is finally coming out. I'll definitely buy it.
**sigh**
Oh the days when I was totally in love with the girl who was in The Wizard. Her and Lori Loughlin That chick who spoke nothing but Spanish in Breakin 2 Electric Boogaloo The girl who was in Dream a Little Dream The hot mom in Valley Girl The Teacher in Private Lessons Gawd I am gittin old! |
I can't wait to own this 90 minute Nintendo commercial.
It's now on my DDD wish list. It's under $10 there. I've had a boot DVD for a couple of years, will be happy to replace with the real thing. If you look back through this thread, you'll see I love this movie, and I used to be in love with Ms. Lewis as well (although now she really has changed...)
Sure it's cheesy, and a long commercial, but it's a hell of a lot of fun! |

I used to be so jealous of the Power Glove kid.
I mean, he had loyal friends, no parents, a shit load of Nintendo games, and a God damn Power Glove! |
One more laserdisc(with a crappy 4x3 transfer) I can retire. And yes, Jenny Lewis was a hottie. And no, I don't feel dirty about it since I was the same age as her when I saw the movie.:)
I had the power glove, but could never get it to the work. I think eventually the neighborhood colected like 10 of these things and they were modified into the Predator's wrist device for Halloween or something.
"New game!?!? They can't do that!"

"The Wizard" is finally just a cynical exploitation film with a lot of commercial plugs in it, and it is so insanely overwritten and ineptly directed that it will disappoint just about everybody and serve them right for going in the first place.
