It sounds like that's their plan, which is rather bothersome to me because they're pretty much splitting up any double-dipping incentive people have. That is, if you want special features, you'll be buying the 2nd release, but if you want the combined movie (which, aside from the volume 1 material, really isn't that different at all*), you'll be buying the 3rd release. Now this 3rd release will either repeat the special features from the 2nd (which will make a decent release, but will piss people off), or it will have all-new special features (cold day in Hell), or it will be barebones (frighteningly likely, which will make hardcore fans have to choose between releases or buy both).

The movie's already out in a version for the casual viewer. Why the hell do they think two more releases is a good idea? If there was any logic in the world, the unrated/international/combined version should be the special edition. Then again, Miramax recognizes how much money they can get by milking this, so I suppose this shouldn't surprise me.

I'll gladly buy every version of Kill Bill.

I hope they sell both SE's in a slipcase (boxset).

Already have the R2 uncut of Vol. 1, but will probably buy again, if it's worth my while -- i.e. non-fluff suppliments, and non-shitty transfers.

I'm still just waiting for the two spliced together in an SE format. Until then, I'll hold off.

I can wait for the final combined SE. I was done double and triple dipping 2 or 3 years ago. If I want to watch it before then, I'll rent it.

I'll only double dip on versions that have an extended cut of the film. If this is the same movie(s) but more extras i'm skipping.

I always held off on buying the first releases, as the DVDs came out so quickly after the theatrical releases. I rather wait a while to re-experience them, so that experience can be more suprising. Better yet, the two films are combined for a true new experience.

Vol 1. and Vol. 2 are marketing. KILL BILL is only one movie. I'm waiting for that ONE.

I believe Mr. JackSkeleton and a few other members would disagree on it being one film. I used to think so as well, but I was proved wrong in some other thread.

Unless the SE's are extended, and bits re-colorized, no sale for me.

I'm waiting for an extended, colorized, editied together release. Don't care how long it is as I'm not that huge a fan.

My comment on KILL BILL as one movie is based on having seen both parts. While individually they work as self-contained chapters IMO they are ifurther enhanced by being considered as a totality. Others are welcome to their opinion.

The same could be said for the "Lord of the Rings" movies or "Star Wars" saga, but that doesn't mean those are one movie either.

Kill Bill was supposed to be one movie. When they finally saw the movie I think they figured they could make more money by splitting it into two movies.

There's also the explanation that if Kill Bill had been released as one movie first, it would have been cut up, and would not have been the 3+ hour film we now think of as the "combined version." Money was part of the equation--it always is--but it wasn't the whole equation.

Yup. If it was combined from the get go you would have only seen a 2 hour and 15 minute film at most. This way you get shots that you wouldn't have seen the other way around. People really just like to complain about anything and everything.

and they still were doing some filming for vol 2 when vol 1 was in theaters.....it has also been said that QT trashed and burned miles of film and reshot because he didn't like what he saw...

even if it is comined as one film, it would be spread across 2 discs...so i don't see what the problem is.

I hope they are going to remaster the image on Vol. 1 as it's pretty bad, particularly compared to Vol. 2.

In the combined movie, I hope to see some of Vol. 2's content trimmed down also as it felt overly long and indulgent.

It would have been a 3.5 hour movie if Tarantino ran the story as just one movie. Not really a format easily accessible to the masses at the theaters.


Now a question about this so-called editted together version... Will they edit it together in chronological order or will they just splice it together as one. Because you know Tarantino has than uncanny ability to edit his movies into a big chronological mess.
